This choice: A magical gift from a fairy • Go Back...Chapter #9Gift for salvation by: Karl0s   A manx cat named Tiara was walking through the forest, dealing the badniks that were left there by Dr. Eggman.
"Ha!" she exclaimed as she spindashed at another flying robo-bee, destroying it.
Tiara kept attacking them until there was no robot in her sight.
"Heh, more robots to handle. That was easy this time." she said to herself.
However, Tiara then sighed a bit sadly. It's been a long while since the last time she opposed more serious Eggman's forces along with someone. The times when she and Sonic were fighting together flew through Tiara's mind.
Those were good times. They were like rivals for each other - they were trying to prove which of them was running faster, which of them would get to the end of Eggman's base faster, and which of them would break more of Eggman's robots during the battle.
Tiara would never admit it...but as their rivalry was going, she seemingly developed feelings for this little arrogant, but fast and cool blue hedgehog. Tiara enjoyed their little confrontations and wished it could last forever.
Unfortunately, over time, as Sonic made more friends for himself, he started spending time saving Mobians from Eggman's forces with them. Paying less and less attention to their rivalry. In the end, Sonic seemingly forgot about her. He didn't even introduce her to his friends.
Tiara took out a newspaper and opened the page with image of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles on it. "Grrr...there he goes. Opposing Eggman with Tails and Knuckles. But...what about me? Was I bad helper?"
Tiara didn't mind someone else helping Sonic. This reckless hedgehog often needed someone around to direct him correctly. What bothered her was that he stopped calling her on these battles.
Moreover, she started hearing rumors about Shadow being Sonic's rival number 1 now. Tiara couldn't say for sure if it was true or not, but the fact of these rumors spreading was making her very pissed.
"Urgh!" she grumbled, clenching her fist.
Tiara then took a deep breath and decided to take a walk in hope it would help her calm down.
As she was walking, Tiara suddenly heard the sound of few more robo-bees. She turned her head and ran to where the sound came from. After 5 seconds of running, Tiara stopped as she saw three robo-bees chasing some little flying creature.
"So, kidnapping animals is not enough for you? Are you chasing flies now?" Tiara asked, raising an eyebrow, causing the attention of robots to focus on her instead.
They fired a few shots at her, but Tiara quickly dodged and destroyed each robot using a Homing Attack. She then looked around and saw the small creature that was chased by these robots hide behind a flower.
Tiara looked at the creature with interest. Its size was very small, but it didn’t look like a usual insect. The creature had a female human like body and two yellow wings.
"Is that...is that a...fairy?" Tiara thought as she remembered reading a kids book she read in the past.
She then decided to try and talk to this little creature.
"Um...hello, little girl." Tiara said, raising her hand in a greeting way. "Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. I dealt with these robots, so they will no longer hurt you too. Be careful next time."
The girl slowly flew out of flower towards Tiara, her gaze focused on her savior.
"Um...hi. You’re...Tiara, right?" she suddenly said, causing Tiara to step back a bit in surprise.
"Huh?! Y-You can talk?! And...how do you know my name?!"
The little girl quickly raised her hands. "Shhhh. It's okay, it's okay. Yes, I can talk. And my kind has an ability to read memories of anyone we see."
Tiara calmed down and looked at her with interest. "Okay then. So, you're a fairy. Am I right?"
The little girl nodded and looked down at herself. "Yes, you are. I was flying around, gathering some pollen when these big iron creatures attacked me."
Tiara scratched her head. "Yeah, these robots often cause trouble to innocent ones. Never thought thry would start chasing small creatures like you though. Good thing you didn't get hurt."
The fairy then looked at Tiara again and smiled. "Thank you for saving me, Tiara. My name is Rihanna. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Rihanna. You're welcome." Tiara said with a smile, feeling a bit better. It's been a while since she got thanked by anybody for saving them.
"Hmm...I can feel negative thoughts that are troubling you." Rihanna said, closing her eyes. "Please, wait for a second..."
She stayed silent for a few seconds and then opened her eyes again.
"I'm so sorry, Tiara...I wish it didn't happen to you."
"Huh? What do you mean?" Tiara asked.
"You're lonely. No one is your friend. No one knows you, except for Sonic the Hedgehog. But even he, the rival you secretly liked, gradually forgot about you...You want friends. You want your rival back. You want to be remembered, appreciated and loved." Rihanna said, and then noticed that Tiara was looking down with a sad expression. "O-Oh, I'm sorry!"
"Eh...it's okay." Tiara sighed.
Feeling bad for Tiara and wanting to thank her for salvation, Rihanna made a decision.
"I think I can help you, Tiara." she said, flying up close to Tiara's face.
"Hm?" Tiara looked at her.
Rihanna nodded. "I have a gift for you. This gift will make you even more beautiful than you already are. It will help you achieve your goals. No one will be able to forget or even ignore you. And you'll also have a special ability. But remember, in order to use it, you need a Chaos Emerald to feed you with enough amount of energy."
"Really? You...you'll do this for me?" Tiara asked, looking at Rihanna with wide eyes.
"Of course! You helped me, and I owe you! This is the least I can do to return the favor." Rihanna said with a smile.
Tiara looked at her with hope. "T-Thank you. I...I accept your gift."
"Alright, Tiara. Then, please, take it." Rihanna said before forming a tiny ball of yellow energy. She held it in her hand and extended it to Tiara.
Looking at that tiny ball with interest, Tiara extended her hand. Rihanna gently placed this ball on it.
As soon as it touched her, she felt a little amount of energy enter through her finger. Tiara then felt a tingle in her whole body which stopped after a second.
"The gift needs some time to adapt to your body before you feel the effect. Don't worry, just wait till the next morning. It'll be worth it, I promise." Rihanna explained.
"Okay, I trust you." Tiara nodded.
"Now I gotta go. Thank you for the save. Bye!" Rihanna said as she turned and flew away.
"Bye! And be more careful next time!" Tiara said, watching her disappear among the plants.
She then turned and walked home, filled with hope.

It was late evening. Tiara was lying in a bed in her room, thinking about this wonderful meeting she had today.
"She...she was a fairy! A real fairy!" she said to herself. "Heh, if I told Sonic that, he wouldn't believe this. She was nice though. I wish I could ask her more about her kind."
Tiara placed a finger on her chin. "Hmm...what special ability Rihanna was talking about?"
She slapped herself in a forehead. "Stupid, why I didn't ask her? She was right there!"
Tiara took a deep breath. Everything was okay. Tomorrow, if Rihanna didn't lie, she's gonna face changes that'll help her achieve her goals and change her life for the better. Whatever this new ability is, she'll figure it out on her own.
Tiara laid on her side and looked at her hand, the one that took the gift from Rihanna. "Please, don't let this be just a dream!"
