"Bring it on!" he responded, smiling confidently.
"Get those pretty lips ready," Andy smirked as he inserted a token into the machine.
The basketballs were dispensed once again, and the clock began to run down. Chris' hands started to sweat bullets the instant he saw the timer slowly inch its way toward zero. He could not afford to lose this. Chris took a single ball in his hand, took aim at the topmost basket, followed through on his throw, and...missed!
A boulder sank to the bottom of Chris' stomach as he painfully witnessed the shot reach the bottom basket and the machine spat out a single ticket in contempt. Andy, meanwhile, was hitting the second- and third-row baskets with ease.
Chris gazed up at the timer and realized there were only thirty seconds left! In his panic, he started lobbing a tornado of balls in the desperate hope of getting ANY points! Anything to stop Andy from--!
BZZZZT!!!
The final buzzer rang, and the balls were all locked away from the contestants. Chris looked up at the scoreboard in shame.
...It wasn't even close. Andy had won.
So many thoughts were racing through Chris' mind now.

Rematch! Double or nothing!

But the humiliation of the loss made them all quickly fade away. Emma was right, and this proved it. She WAS a better boy than him, and he truly was a girl. Chris considered his options from here...
