Chapter #8

Climbing Mt. Sid.

    by: G-Breaker Author IconMail Icon
As Sid searched for her missing butterfly net, Lincoln tried to think of a way to get the giant girl's attention. He knew he was too small for Sid to see or hear on the floor, so that didn't leave him a lot of options. And on top of that, he didn't have a lot of time to think with Sid stomping around in every corner of her room.

"If Sid can't hear me, then I'll just have to get closer. Hmm..." Lincoln said. He stared up at the gigantic girl looking for a way to get noticed, but it didn't seem possible with how massive she looked.

"There's gotta be a way for Sid to find me. But how?" Lincoln tried desperately to come up with a plan when Sid turned around and looked toward her bed.

"Hmm, maybe I left it under my bed? Yeah, I must've left it there the other day." Sid then walked toward her bed, prompting Lincoln to panic as he saw her stomping toward him.

"Uh oh! I'd better hide before I get squashed!" But as he looked around, Lincoln couldn't find a place to hide in time. He only had a few seconds to move as Sid's massive footfalls made it hard for him to keep his balance. "No time to think, gotta move!"

Lincoln tried to move as quickly as he could, but Sid's footsteps made him fall on his back. Lincoln gasped in shock as Sid's right foot was already on top of him. He was about to get up when her foot's shadow eclipsed him again, forcing him to make another daring leap to safety.

*STOMP!*

Before he could be squashed like a bug, Lincoln made a mad dash for the side and jump out of the way just in the nick of time. He jumped to the side just before Sid's boot could land on him, but the resulting shockwave was so strong that it bounced him a few feet off the floor.

"Another close call." Lincoln sighed. "I'm not sure how much more I can take."

That's when Lincoln looked behind him, stricken with shock to once again see Sid's massive shoe towering next to him. He stood up and was even more dumbfounded once he measured his height in comparison to it. Turns out he was so small that he barely even reached up to the rims of Sid's shoe. The reality was quite painful to say the least.

He then backed away once he saw Sid lowering herself to the floor. She was now on all fours as she peered under the bed in search of her net. This gave Lincoln the chance he needed to get her attention now that Sid's eyes were closer to him.

"Now's my chance." Lincoln quickly ran toward Sid's head as she lifted the blanket out of her way.

Sid's head alone was as big as his house, but that wasn't going to stop Lincoln from reaching his goal. Lincoln got as close as he could to Sid's face and started shouting to get her attention.

"SID! HEY SID! LOOK OVER HERE!" Lincoln shouted, but Sid still didn't register his cries for help. "SID! SIIIIID! IT'S ME, LINCOLN!"

No matter how much he cried, his cries fell on deaf ears. Sid looked left and right in the darkened space under her bed, but she still couldn't find what she was looking for. Lincoln didn't have much time before she got back, so he had to find another way to reach her.

"Oh, come on, Sid! I'm right here! HEY!" With his time running out, Lincoln soon gave up his desperate pleas and started panicking. "It's no use. She still can't hear me. I have to do something before-"

Lincoln had but a few seconds to make his move, so he looked over his options. His first choice was to wait for Sid to stand back up so he could climb onto her foot, whereas, his other option was to grab some part of Sid he could find before she stood up. He could grab her hair, climb into her clothes, or even just cling to some part of her skin. Either way, he had to think make his move before his chance was gone.
