Chapter #10

Taylor Maid

    by: Metalix64 Author IconMail Icon
It was another morning in Royal Woods, Michigan, and as per usual, Lincoln Loud was hastily getting ready for school while his younger sisters waited impatiently outside. This morning, however, Lincoln wasn't the only one running late. The genius of the family, Lisa was still in her room working on her newest science experiment. She was so preoccupied with what she was doing that she would have missed breakfast had it not been for her mother, Rita.

After running around the house like a mad man, Lincoln managed to find his backpack, which had somehow ended up underneath his bed. With his backpack securely over his shoulders, Lincoln ran out the door and was immediately intercepted by his second youngest sister, Lisa.

"Greetings, elder brother," Lisa said. "Before we must depart for school, I'd like for you to test my latest experiment." Lisa presented Lincoln with a small glass vial filled with a pink liquid. The smell emitted from the vial was so strong it made Lincoln's nostrils flare up slightly.

"I don't know, Lisa. You remember what Mom and Dad said about using us as guinea pigs." Lincoln said. "Besides, we're going to be late for the bus."

"Not to worry, my dear brother," replied Lisa. "By my calculations, you should have just enough time to ingest my potion before the school bus arrives."

Lincoln really wasn't crazy about drinking one of Lisa's potions just before school. They always had some kind of strange side effect to them. He thought it would be embarrassing if her potion made his skin turn blue or something in the middle of the school hallways. Lincoln would be made fun of for the rest of the school year.

The brainy four-year-old could see that her brother was hesitant about trying out her latest potion, so she decided to reassure him. "I assure you that this potion will cause you no bodily harm or make any unwanted changes to your integumentary system. Trust me, Lincoln."

Although Lincoln was still wary of testing out Lisa's new concoction, he decided to trust his sister. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?

"Alright, Lisa," Lincoln said, reluctantly grabbing the vial from her.

Lincoln brought the vial to his lips and downed its contents in one gulp. As soon as the potion hit his stomach, Lincoln felt a tingling sensation on his tongue, followed by a slight warmth in his chest. Just as quickly as it came, the feeling passed, leaving Lincoln with no clue of what would happen next.

"Well, it tastes better than it smells. So, what's it supposed to do anyway?" asked Lincoln.

"That's strange. The effects should have started already." Lisa said, not bothering to answer Lincoln's question.

A few moments went by without anything happening. Lisa was beginning to wonder if she mixed up the ingredients properly. Before she could ponder any longer, the voice of Rita Loud caught their attention.

"Lincoln, Lisa! You're going to be late for the bus!" Rita called from downstairs.

Not wanting to invoke the wrath of their mother, Lincoln and Lisa quickly rushed down the stairs and made their way outside. Sure, enough the bus had arrived and was waiting for them. Once again, the athlete of the family, Lynn. Had foregone riding the bus in favor of sprinting to school. Leaving just Lucy and the twins waiting for the bus.

"It's about time! We almost missed the bus because of you two!" Lola yelled at her two siblings.

"Sorry, Lola," Lincoln apologized.

With that, the five Loud kids boarded the bus and Lincoln greeted his friends with high fives and clever quips before he sat down beside his best friend Clyde.

As the bus pulled away, Lincoln got a funny feeling that someone was staring at him. He looked back only to meet the eyes of three eighth graders who were glaring daggers at him. The same trio that had been giving wedgies to the younger students, last week. That is until Lincoln came up with the idea to rally the other kids on the bus to stand up to them. It made sense that these bullies would still be angry with the "baby" that put a stop to their bullying on the school bus.

The white-haired boy faced forwards, not really worried about the bullies. They were outnumbered, so they wouldn't dare mess with Lincoln. Eventually, the bus pulled up to the front of Royal Woods Middle School. All of the kids exited the bus and made their way inside. Once inside, Lincoln felt very disoriented. For some reason, he was having trouble finding his locker.

"That's weird," Lincoln muttered to himself. "I could have sworn that this was my locker."

As Lincoln continued walking through the halls searching for his assigned locker, he was overcome with a strange woozy sensation. He tried to shake the feeling off, but it seemed to linger. Before long, Lincoln found himself stumbling around the halls, receiving confused looks from the other kids he passed by. He began to piece together why he was feeling this way. It was that potion he drank earlier.

"Dang it, Lisa! That's the last time I agree to one of her experiments," Lincoln mumbled to himself.

Just then, Lincoln bumped into another student, sending them both sprawling across the floor. "I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there," Lincoln apologized.

Lincoln was about to help the student back up to their feet when he realized that the person he knocked over was one of the bullies from the school bus, Taylor, and she wasn't too happy to be knocked onto the floor.

"Watch where you're going, little twerp!" Taylor yelled at Lincoln, as she picked herself up off the ground.

That's when Taylor got a good look at the kid that knocked her over. Her lips spread into a sinister grin. "Well, well, if it isn't the puny sixth-grader," Taylor said, sneering.

"Look. I don't want any trouble, alright?" Lincoln pleaded. "I just want to get to my locker."

Taylor rolled her eyes and scoffed at Lincoln's reply. "You think you can just get away with knocking me over like that, huh? Well, you're wrong!" She said, jabbing at Lincoln's chest with her finger.

At this point, Lincoln knew there was no reasoning with Taylor. He looked around for his friends to help him out, but they were nowhere to be seen.

"Aww, is the baby looking for his little friends?" Taylor mocked. "Too bad! No one's around to save you this time!" She laughed as she cracked her knuckles.

Lincoln gulped and turned toward the readers. "Well, in a situation like this, there's only one course of action left," Lincoln said confidently. He took a deep breath and puffed up his chest. Then he turns around on his heels and takes off in the opposite direction of Taylor.

"Run away!" Lincoln shrieked.

The bully girl was quick to give chase, but Lincoln managed to stay ahead of her. With his head still screwy from Lisa's potion, Lincoln's eyes were playing tricks on him. To him, the halls were rotating, like one of those spinning rides at the amusement park. Lincoln kept up his pace, running as fast as he could until he ran into a dead end.

"Oh, no! I cornered myself!" Lincoln cried out in despair.
It was at this exact moment, that Lisa's potion finally reached its apex. Lincoln looked up at the ceiling and saw that it was getting further away from him. Not only that, but everything around him started growing larger and larger.

"Whoa! What's going on!?" Lincoln exclaimed.

And then it dawned on him. The school wasn't getting bigger, he was getting smaller. In fact, he was getting smaller and smaller by the second. Soon, the lockers toward over Lincoln, and the walls grew taller. The ceiling seemed to be miles away, while the floor was rapidly approaching. Needless to say, Lincoln was terrified by the bizarre situation he was in.

Lincoln's shrinking finally came to an end. Leaving him at his new size of a measly inch tall. Before the now shrunken boy could even catch his breath, he felt the ground rumbling beneath his feet. And the sound of a booming voice vibrated through his eardrums.

"No where to run, little man?"

Lincoln turned around to face the source of the voice. In the distance, he could see that it was none other than Taylor. Only now, she was gigantic. Her face contorted into a look of confusion when she saw that the white-haired kid had vanished.

"W-what the heck!? I know I saw him run in this direction," Taylor stammered. "Where did he go?"

The Teenager walked further into the end of the hallway in hopes of catching sight of her target. Unbeknownst to her, the tiny Lincoln was struggling to stay on his feet from Taylor's massive footfalls. Like a deer in the headlights. Lincoln was too scared to move from his position. The giant bully stomped closer and closer to Lincoln's small form until she was looming over him. Fortunately for Lincoln, the colossal teenager's trek ended before she crushed him underfoot. Taylor's giant feet came crashing down in front of Lincoln, causing him to fall onto his butt.

Lincoln was still too frightened by Taylor's size to get up and make a run for it. She was intimidating when he was still at his original size. But now, she was more like a giant monster than a teenage girl.
