Robert and John stated at each other in silence for a while.

"Robert," John said.

"I know what you're going to say," Robert said, looking down at his belly. "I checked my weight this morning and I've lost 15 pounds since last week. Now I weight 255 pounds."

"Oh," John replied. "What made you go on this diet?"

"It's a long story," Robert said, clutching the straps on his overalls.
