Alchemist's shop

Melissa's Potion Emporium was a dull place, and it had no right to be. In Melona's mind, alchemists' shops were almost always mysterious places, brimming with strange smokes and smells, run by eccentric potion-brewing savants. If they weren't that, then they were professional, clinical places that smelled pleasantly of mint or sage or anything that would cover up the mostly-suppressed smells of the expertly sealed potions. Those were also run by eccentric potion-brewing savants, but those types of savants were generally more careful about said eccentricity.

Melissa was a savant, yes. Hell, she was an actual, flesh-and-blood naga, and as far as anyone could tell, nobody knew where she came from or where she lived. She was ostensibly a walking--well, slithering--paragon of mystery, and yet--

And yet Melissa Savo was the most normal-seeming woman on the planet. Once you got past her murky past, her weirdo-magnet profession, and her species, there was nothing really unusual about her. She passed idle time by doing crosswords. She ate normal human meals. For the gods' sakes, her name was Melissa. She didn't even have the decency to hiss out the "s" sounds in her name. Even Melona found the shop to be boring enough to be maddening.

Melona wouldn't have bothered entering the emporium, but it couldn't be helped. She needed to pick up some wakefulness potions if she was gonna have a hope in hell of passing her upcoming exam, and Melissa's had the best ones in town. She walked into the shop, waving a half-hearted "hello" to the half-reptile shopkeep, and then paused.

Melissa had uncoiled herself as she slithered across the floor, drawing a banner across the ceiling. On it read--
