Drif began to panic and Melona was unresponsive. "Mel? Mel???" she asked, worry filling her head. Had something gone wrong? It was insane to think she could have messed up the potion, but Melona wasn't saying anything. "Speak to me!!!"
"Shut up, will you???"
Drif jumped in surprsie at the cold comment. Melona snapped open her now green eyes and sat up, resting her chin in her hand and glaring at the alchemist.
"Mel...?"
"Would you quit calling me that?" Melona spat, looking more annoyed than she'd ever been before, "What, do you think it's cute? Do I look like a toddler to you?" She looked down at herself, frowning. "Well, maybe not a toddler, but gods do I look skinny. Ew." She glanced back up at Drif. "Make yourself useful and get me some snacks."
"U-um... Sure." Drif stammered, too shocked to react in any other way than compliance. The potion certainly did work boosting Melona's confidence, but why was she being so rude? Not that Drif particularly cared about manners, but this was a complete 180 from the friend she was used to. She went to her cupboard and grabbed a half-full bag of chips, bringing it to Melona, who clicked her tongue in annoyance.
"Wow, no bowl?" She droned, her voice nearly monotone, "Classy." She opened the bag and began to munch on chips, reclining on the bed like it was hers, uncaring about the crumbs she was dropping.
"Uh... Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yes, gods." Melona groaned, "I feel fine. What are you my mom?" She scoffed. "Just kidding. That bitch would never ask how I'm doing."
Drif frowned, unsure of how to take that. Obviously the potion had made some sort of drastic change, but if Melona said she was fine then as her friend, Drif should respect that. On top of that, Drif found it a bit cathartic seeing Melona being so direct, even if a little mean. It was nice seeing her speak her mind for a change.
Little did Drif realize, the potion had done more than just change Melona's personality. It had also made it so that...
