The doctor suggests saving Mark’s body for so...

Seeing Mark’s parents upset, the doctor left the room to give the couple some time alone with their dying son. As the doctor left, a nurse came up to him in the hallway.

“Dr. Paul, I have great news,” the woman said as she held a paper in her hands. She turned it around and showed it to him as his face lit up by what he saw. “I have a way to salvage part of that young man’s life.”

“Why didn’t I think of this, the boy’s body is perfectly healthy. I know plenty of our patients would kill to have his body,” the doctor said with a smile. He thanked the nurse as he turned back to re-enter the hospital room. Swinging the door open, he noticed both of Mark’s parents were better composed than before. Joe was straight face while Cindy was starting to clear up her tears.

“I might have a way to bring your son back… in some way,” the doctor said as the couple looked up in slight hope. “We do this program here in the hospital where we salvage healthy bodies and give them to people whose minds are still healthy but their bodies aren’t. I know this won’t bring your son back but perhaps it’s a better situation than losing him completely.”

Mark’s parents looked at each other, completely shocked by what the doctor just proposed. Sure, they loved the idea of having their son still around but with someone else controlling his body, would it be the same?
