Alexis hunched over her desk, studying her notebook of deck strategies. She carefully reviewed the strategies marked as failures to understand where they had fallen short in winning her the match. Using this insight, she thoughtfully chose cards from those decks to create a new one she believed would succeed.
As she assembled the deck, she cross-checked it with her previous decks, and... "No!" she shouted, slamming her fists onto the desk. "I already tried that," she groused. "How am I supposed to beat him?" she asked herself, slamming her head onto the table.
Alexis had been at a loss for weeks about how to beat Duel Academy's top duellist, Jaden Yuki. He was the best duellist in the school, despite living in the Slifer Red dorms, where students with the poorest grades and duelling skills were usually found. Yet here she was, a member of Obelisk Blue, where the top duellists resided, and she couldn't even come close to defeating him. Time and time again, she'd devise a strategy to beat his deck, only to have him crush her plans effortlessly. It frustrated her, annoyed her, drove her mad, and... she loved it.
This was the other side of the story: her love for him. She eagerly grabbed every moment to be with him, whether chatting about trivial topics, engaging in playful duels she was destined to lose, or simply sitting together—at lunch, in class, or hanging out at each other's dorms. Wherever they were or whatever they did, her day became brighter as long as he was around. Still, no matter how much she wanted to tell him how she felt, her nerves prevented her from saying a word of love. That's part of why she sought a winning plan to beat him; she believed that the thrill of victory might give her the courage to confess her feelings. Yet, victory felt as elusive as her love.
As Alexis sat gloomily at her desk, she heard a knock. "Hello?" she called. No one answered, so she approached the door and peeked out. The hallway was empty; she saw no one walking away up or down the hall. However, as she looked down, she spotted a glowing green stone at the foot of her door.
"What's this?" she asked, picking up the rock, and suddenly, all the information from the stone flowed into her mind.
After a couple of seconds, Alexis comes back to herself. "A stone that allows me to make any wish I desire?"
Alexis returned to her room, shutting the door behind her. She moved back to her desk and considered her options. As far as she knew, the stone could supposedly alter reality according to her wishes, but only she could make a wish, and even then, her abilities were somewhat limited. Besides a few things like outright de-ageing people younger than ten, making people fat, or defeating evil, she could do whatever she wanted.
What does she want? She's already an excellent duellist with perfect grades and a high duelling IQ who'll no doubt turn professional in the future. The best she could think of was making herself more attractive than she already is. But how to do it? Not to brag, but she's pretty much the most beautiful girl in the academy. Maybe she could be bustier, or if she's desperate, make herself sluttier.
Still, she had seen stranger things on the island; it could be real, or it might be a joke someone was playing on her. Still, it couldn't hurt to wish for something, just for the fun of it. So, Alexis was prepared to make her first change to reality.
