There was a high chance that the security doors would be locked, just like the once's outside and you weren't sure if crawling through a food dispenser or a small crack into wall would be very ideal. The vents however, were secured and probably goes throughout the whole Zoo, meaning that eventually you would reach an exit.

With that mind you approach the entrances for the enclosures with big ventilation system, hoping that would lead to salvation. Though, before you entered an enclosure blindly, you looked at what it says on the door and to what enclosure they led to.
