Everyone paused and turned their heads to the darkness. There, far off in the distance, was a woman's scream.
"Ellen!" Sinclair yelled, forgetting the people with him, and tore off into the night, his eyes glazed with determination and fear. Fear for his sister.
"Wait! Sinclair!" Anne called in the fading darkness, but the man ignored her, and fought harder to reach Ellen.
"You're not going to make it in time Sin! I've already seen the future! She's dead!" Sinclair lashed out at a branch in his path, taking out his fury for the man who had the nerve to shout that out. If his sister wasn't in trouble, he would have probably gone back and hit that guy in the face. What the hell was wrong with that guy? He makes stupid jokes about how he's a time traveler, and now he's still making them, but instead meant to hurt him.
Yet the man still ran -- ran as fast as he had ever ran before. It was a long distance. At one time Sin tripped over a tree root and skidded across the rough forest floor, scraping his arms and face. But still, he leapt back up and carried on, not even bothering to check his injuries. All that mattered in his mind was Ellen.
Sin was reaching the clearing where his sister's lodge was when it happened. He was blinded by the urge to find the woman that he didn't check the forest surrounding him. There, behind a large oak, lay a man in waiting. And as Sin ran passed, he jumped out and tackled him.
"Aargh!" Sinclair yelled as an enormous weight came crashing on him. They both tumbled to the ground and rolled, Sin punching and kicking in an attempt to throw of his attacker. The other man dodged them all, but didn't fight back. The only thing he did was grip his shoulders to restrain him, then his wrists. The lay there for a moment, panting. They glared at each other threateningly, and Sin opened his mouth to speak, but other man beat him.
"You stay away from Ellen, okay?" he growled, his eyes blazing. "And tell who ever you work for to get the hell away from here, or he'll pay. Got it?!"
Sin blinked. "Stay away from Ellen? You better get off me now, or you'll be the one to pay. Ellen's my sister!"
The dark haired man looked confused for a moment, then he said gruffly, "Ellen doesn't have a brother."
"How the hell do you know? Who the hell are you?" He glared, not trusting him.
"I'm Trevor, Ellen's boyfriend. And I'm hear to save her."
