My entry for the 55-Word Story set during preantebellum days

As James stormed out the door dressed as a ghost, his pet monkey followed. When James heard the cowbells, he hid behind a bush to scare the darkies who were bringing in the cows. Before the darkies could be scared, the pet monkey, also dressed as a ghost scared James. The darkies laughed him home.
