I had a dream........

Written very soon after a breakup

I had a dream I had a hope
Didn’t realize until too late I’d made myself a dope

I came to you one afternoon to make it true
I left that evening totally blue

My feelings, yes, I was intense
I didn’t want to leave you in total suspense

You couldn’t look me in the face
I left for home in total disgrace

The love I had, no it is still there
I tried to share to show how much I care

While I may not write poems to you any more
Within my heart they still will soar

You can only stop so much you see
My love for you is still in me

The tears they come and yes the pain
To have you back I could not gain

My best to you I wanted to give
Yet without me you choose to live

I want for you to have it all
A lucky man with you would stand so tall

This is so hard for me to end
For still I want our lives to blend

To say goodbye the tears so flow
