You have sailed past the point of no return

You have sailed past the point of no return
to a shore beyond the range of visible light;
to a place where it is futile for my eyes to gaze;
a place that only faith can see.

You have sailed past the point of no return,
while I stand upon the beach of matter listening
to the wild reverberation of the surf
upon boulders that permit safe passage out
of this place that you once called home.

You have sailed past the point of no return
my mouth is silent,
my tongue cannot form words,
and the stains of tears run down my cheeks.

You have sailed past the point of no return,
I have placed the mask of your body in the grave,
I have listened to the tender prayers of hope
that spoke of immortality, and I must find the faith
to see beyond the range of visible light.
