Bring My Purpose To Light

Entry for Round 45 of the Shadows and Light Poetry Contest.

Dawn breaks
Colours seep across the sky
         Blending vibrancy
Against the dark velvet of night
         That slips away.
As the colours stretch
         They bring warmth and promise
                   Into a new day
I raise my face and smile;
Grateful for this newborn day;
To breathe and grow;
Learn and build confidence to show
All that I possess.
Night slips away, taking the hazy memories
         Of shattered snips of remembered things
Day brings true adventure
         And fulfillment of making my dreams
                   A reality
Each step more focused and sure
Moving me towards what I am meant to be
Night may rejuvenate and give me rest
But Day inspires me to push forward
And bring my purpose to light.
