As I gazed out the window in front of my desk, I ruminated on the rather unusual morning. |
This Morning This morning, everything I observe is eerily still, much quieter than usual, too. And I wonder … Might a storm be brewing? This morning, the trees stand motionless, like soldiers on alert. And I wonder … Do they anticipate a battle? This morning, dirty gray clouds hang low in the sky, ever-slowly migrating southward. And I wonder … Will they gift us with much-needed rain? This morning, normal birdsong is noticeably absent, like many music-makers are missing. And I wonder … Will they be back tomorrow? This morning, the ocean appears more like a lake, sporting soft ripples rather than waves. And I wonder … What will disrupt this calm? This morning, it feels like it’s just me and nature, with no one else in sight. And I wonder … Are others feeling this too? This morning, one tiny slice of the universe is beautifully at peace. And I wonder … How long will it last? This morning, my heart overflows with gratitude for moments such as these. And now I’m content to stop wondering … and just be. Line count: 40 (excluding title) |
