From CIA agent to Private eye |
Chicago, the Windy City walks a very attractive dark haired woman. She was sharply dressed in a yellow businesswoman’s suit. While walking down Wabash approaches “320 s Wabash ave”. She walks into the building looks at the directory “William Hunter PI suite 201.” She steps into the elevator and presses the #2 button. The old elevator made her nervous as it moved slowly up to the 2nd floor. Finally the doors open, she exits the elevator and she notices that there are numbers with arrows pointing in the direction of the suites. Suite 201-220 on her right side, the first suite was 201. Thank goodness, my feet are killing me she thought no wonder why most of the women wear gym shoes here. Even though Chicago has a great transportation system she preferred to hire a car. On the outside of the tinted window professionally painted was “William Hunter Private Investigator”. She gave a few taps on the window, and from the inside the room she heard a man say enter. Behind a large desk sat a distinguished looking man. She guessed him about 36 years old. He put his hand over the mouth piece of the phone and said “please take a seat”. Hunter went back to his phone call. “I think we should meet Mr. Wilcox, there are a few things that we need to discuss, tomorrow at eleven at Starbucks” then hung up the phone. “What can I do for you Miss” he hesitate. “Parker, Jessica Parker” she replied. And ”I need you to find my daughter” she said as tears welled up in her eyes. “Missing people are hard cases” he told her “sometimes the person doesn’t want to be found and that comes with a lot of problems and heartbreak”. “Does that mean you won’t take the case” Jessica asked now with tears running down her face. “I didn’t say that, I just don’t want you to get your hopes up. My fee for missing people is $200 per hour plus expenses. “I’m at my last wit end. no- one else wants to take my case so please Mr. Hunter you are my last resort. “Im going to need more information about your daughter, anything that you can tell me about her will help, even if you might not think it is necessary I want to know. For example what’s her favorite song or ice-cream flavor. Hunter bent over and took out a pad of yellow note book paper. As he sat back up there was an envelope sitting on his desk. “There’s $20,000 in the envelope Mr. Hunter, if you need more let me know”. Jessica said “What are you leaving out Miss Parker, you need to be truthful with me no matter what”. Hunter said seriously, “No-one throws an envelope with $20,000 on my desk unless there’s a catch”. So what’s the catch? “Ok” Jessica starts to explain. “I was just getting to that. She went missing in Hong Kong”. “I needed to travel to Hong Kong for business and I didn’t want to leave her with my ex. He lets her do anything she wants with no repercussions, and now she’s drinking and smoking weed “. Jessica told him. “What is her name and what is her age ?“ Hunter asked “Sandy, and she is only 17”. Jessica said. What happened in Hong Kong? Hunter asked. “ I went for the morning meeting at 9am. I told her to order some room-service and that I would be back in time for lunch. When I came back to the room, she was gone. “Did you check with the hotel desk? Maybe someone saw her leave”.Hunter asked “Yes, and no-one saw anything. The only reason I came back to the states was to confront her father”. “What did he have to say?” “He blamed me for everything”. “Did she know anyone in Hong Kong, maybe she might have met someone online. “No, I mean I don’t think so”. Does she have a laptop? Hunter asked her. “Why don’t you come back here tomorrow at 1:00, bring her laptop and we’ll check it out ”. “But it’s password protected”. Jessica cried “That never stopped me before”. Hunter said reinsuring her. As he stood up. Jessica noticed that he was about 6’2” tall, and with a snug fitting shirt she could tell he was in good shape”. Hunter grabbed his coat and put it on. “I will walk you out.” When they reached the street Hunter said “which way” “I’m going north” Jessica said. Too bad I’m going east, see you tomorrow at 1:00 and don’t forget the laptop. The next day Hunter went to meet Mr. Wilcox at the local Starbucks. Tapping his foot nervously Mr. Wilcox had a table waiting for Hunter. He noticed that Wilcox was looking at his watch. Hunter pulled out a chair and sat across from Wilcox, Wilcox jumped and let out a loud scream. I wish you wouldn’t do that Mr. Hunter. Wilcox said very angrily. “Sorry , won’t happen again” Hunter said with a smile on his face. Hunter opened his briefcase and pulled out a large envelope. “Before we get started there is a matter of the balance of my fee, it’s $1050 dollars.” “I already paid you $1000!” Exclaimed Mr. Wilcox “I made it perfectly clear that was only for the down payment, and after expenses and 2 more days of surveillance that is the final cost.” Hunter told him calmly. “Ok here just take it now give me the bad news”. “Well Mr. Wilcox, there isn’t any bad news, all your wife was doing was checking out the prices on sail boats”. “Sail boats? We were talking about getting one. I’m retiring in 2 months and we thought we could go on a trip and sail around the Florida Keys. Thank you very much Mr. Hunter, you will be highly recommended. 1:00 exactly Jessica knocked on Hunters door. “Come on in Jessica and have a seat”. Hunter loudly said. She handed him the laptop and took a seat. She noticed that the chairs were quite comfortable and she was able to relax as Hunter went to work on the laptop. “Looks like she set up some sort of plans to meet with this Billy boy. Once they arrived in Hong Kong she would call Billy from the hotel. And would give him all the information on where you were staying and what time you’re meeting was to start, and other things as well. Hunter told her. “How did you do that? Jessica said with great surprise, I tried for days and nothing couldn’t get by the password. I tried everything, old boyfriends and new boyfriends, songs everything. And her useless father didn’t do a thing.” “It’s like he doesn’t care. Ever since that bimbo came into his life. Hunter gave her a wink. “Just a little trick of the trade”. He said smiling. She just smiled back. “Let’s go visit her best friend, she will know something.” Hunter said as he pulled out a “Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun from his desk drawer”. And they left the office building. Hunter drove a black SUV. Jessica started to think that Hunter was more than just a Private Investigator. They drove to Beth’s house. Taking the I-94 freeway. Now remember, let me do the talking said Hunter as they pulled up to the house. Yes I understand. Jessica said with an aptitude. Hunter knocked on the door, and a man in his late 30’s to early 40’s answered it. “Can I help you?” The man asked. “We need to speak with your daughter Beth.” Hunter said as he showed a CIA badge with agent on it. “What does the CIA want with Beth?” Asked Mr. Johnson. “Is she home Mr. Johnson? Hunter asked politely. “How do you know my name? What’s going on? Mr. Johnson asked “If you can get her I will explain everything”. Hunter told him. CIA is that who William used to work for. Jessica thought to herself. Right then Jessica saw Beth climbing out the window. “Stop, Beth stop!” Jessica yelled. “We only want to talk”. Beth jumped on her bike and started racing down the street. Jessica followed her on foot. When Hunter realized what was going on, he turned to join the pursuit. He passed Jessica as if she was standing still. He caught up to her within seconds and while holding on to the seat with one hand and the other grabbing on the handle bars brought her to a stop. As she and Hunter walked back Beth cried uncontrollably. Back at the Johnson’s Beth her mother and father sat on the sofa while Hunter sat in a chair and Jessica stood with her arms folded. Jessica started jumping down Beth’s throat accusing her of knowing the whereabouts of Sandy. Hunter then told Jessica to go and wait in the car. She started screaming at Hunter that Sally was her daughter not his and that she has every right to be there. Hunter took her to the side and said that “if she wanted his help she would listen to him”. After Jessica stomped of Hunter turned back his attention to the Johnson’s. With a soft gentle voice he asked Beth “Now Beth, did Sally mention anything about this Billy guy that you can tell me. Now think hard. Beth it is very important”. Beth was very happy that finally someone wasn’t yelling at her. She felt comfortable around Hunter and was glad to help him anyway she could. In |
