This is a blessed spot, spoilt only by the people, in the central North Island of NZ.
Most of the time for me the glass is half empty. On rare occasions the glass is half full as with news of The Donald's activities.

I am getting over earthquaked via the news media these days and their stories are more inconsequential by the day. They are really starting to scrape the barrel. Many in industry are rubbing their hands with glee anticipating much dinero to be made through scams and fraud.

The damage to the surrounding countryside at the top of the South Island is huge. Some infrastructure can never be fixed. I am talking about main roads, rail links etc. New access roads may have to be built and rail may never return! I am always saddened at how these natural events bring out the best in rescues and acts of kindness but open the way for scamming contractors to make huge bucks quickly.
