These are my thoughts and ramblings as I forge my way through this thing they call Life. I blog with these groups: "Blogging Circle of Friends " [E] |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 21 Air Supply - One of the first records I got when I was 13 when I got my record player. I used to play the album every night before bed. I only had 2 albums and both of them were Australian bands. Air Supply and Men At Work. I still have a soft spot for these two bands. I'm All Out Of Love Lyrics: I am lying alone with my head on the phone Thinking of you till it hurts I know you're hurt too But what else can we do Tormented and torn apart I wish I could carry your smile in my heart For times when my life seems so low It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring When today doesn't really know, doesn't really know I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you I know you were right, believing for so long I'm all out of love, what am I without you I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong I want you to come back and carry me home Away from this long lonely nights I'm reaching for you, are you feeling it too Does the feeling seem oh, so right And what would you say if I called on you now And said that I can't hold on? There's no easy way, it gets harder each day Please love me or I'll be gone, I'll be gone I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you I know you were right, believing for so long I'm all out of love, what am I without you I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong Oh, what are you thinking of What are you thinking of What are you thinking of What are you thinking of I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you I know you were right, believing for so long I'm all out of love, what am I without you I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 20 Theme songs.... hmmm. I love the Rembrandt's song for the Friends' theme song. I'll Be There For You. I like this video because the characters are there and wrecking havoc. They are all so young in this video. I love the words to this song. Lyrics So no one told you life was gonna be this way Your job's a joke, you're broke Your love life's D.O.A It's like you're always stuck in second gear When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month Or even your year, but I'll be there for you (When the rain starts to pour) I'll be there for you (Like I've been there before) I'll be there for you ('Cause you're there for me too) You're still in bed at ten And work began at eight You've burned your breakfast, so far Things are going great Your mother warned you there'd be days like these But she didn't tell you when the world has brought You down to your knees and I'll be there for you (When the rain starts to pour) I'll be there for you (Like I've been there before) I'll be there for you ('Cause you're there for me too) No one could ever know me No one could ever see me Seems you're the only one who knows What it's like to be me Someone to face the day with Make it through all the rest with Someone I'll always laugh with Even at my worst, I'm best with you, yeah It's like you're always stuck in second gear When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month Or even your year I'll be there for you (When the rain starts to pour) I'll be there for you (Like I've been there before) I'll be there for you ('Cause you're there for me too) I'll be there for you I'll be there for you I'll be there for you ('Cause you're there for me too) |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 19, 2020 because I have had a 12 hour work day and I am tired, I am going to pick something easy. I'm an eighties kids and I am going with another song I like. Fame Theme for the TV show Fame. I loved this show. |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 18 I like o write with a group of friends at a Cafe in Waterloo on Monday nights. The cafe plays a lot of 80s music which is right up my alley. Of the many wonderful hits I listened to.... and often sang along with was one done by the band Chilliwack. A Canadian band out of Chilliwack BC. A quaint little town in the interior of British Columbia. I got to visit there with my mother and her boyfriend when I was 16 or so. I'm not sure how many hits this band had, but I particularly loved this song. It has a great, catchy beat. Watcha gonna do when I'm gone? Here's to an 80's childhood. |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 17, 2020 Hell of a Girl by Grace. This is the same singer who did the newer version of You Don't Own Me. I love this young woman's voice. I also like the idea of what goes around comes around. This idiot broke her heart and messed around on her... and now he has to deal with his new girl doing the same to him. Karma is a sweet bitch. She's a hell of a girl! Love the personification of Karma. Makes me smile. Chorus lyrics: You messed up, you messed up Bet you feel so stupid that you played with my heart I don't care to see you, I don't care where you are I know you didn't think it comes back around, oh Karma, karma, karma, she's a hell of a girl, oh |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 16 It is Sunday. My spiritual center. I am a seeker. One who seeks outside the box. I am not locked into organized religion, per se. I was raised Christian and I believe in one God. Love is the foundation of my spiritual journey.... one that incorporates my God. I seek to find my inner peace through meditation and trying to strengthen my relationship with God. I am not locked into the dogma of religion, but I do appreciate the liturgy in both the Lutheran and Protestant churches that I have attended. The Golden Rule guides me - doing unto others as I would have others do unto me.... in other words I try to practice Love and Kindness. The world can always use a little more of those things. One of the things I do love is listening to Contemporary Christian music. Francesca Battistelli is one of my favourite artists. So today I want to do a Francesca Battistelli song, but I can't find the one I want. So I am going to go with this one - The Breakup Song... it's probably not what you think. Fear.... you will never be welcome here! Have a blessed day! |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 15 Irene Cara from the Flashdance movie... Flashdance What A Feeling. I never saw the movie, but I love the music. I'm an eighties kids so this is more from my time. One line that makes me laugh is "Take your passion...and make it happen." - that line in the song sounds like 'take your pants down... and make make it happen." Gets me snickering every time. Still the actual lyrics are important to me. We all need to take our passion and make it happen. I find it interesting that most of the music that is coming up this month is associate one way or another with movies. Lyrics: Flashdance, What a Feeling Irene Cara First when there's nothing But a slow glowing dream That your fear seems to hide Deep inside your mind All alone I have cried Silent tears full of pride In a world made of steel Made of stone Well, I hear the music Close my eyes, feel the rhythm Wrap around Take a hold of my heart What a feeling Bein's believin' I can have it all Now I'm dancing for my life Take your passion And make it happen Pictures come alive You can dance right through your life Now I hear the music Close my eyes, I am rhythm In a flash It takes hold of my heart What a feeling Bein's believin' I can have it all Now I'm dancing for my life Take your passion And make it happen Pictures come alive You can dance right through your life What a feeling What a feeling (I am music now) Bein's believin' (I am… |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 14, 2020 Today is Valentine's Day. I was thinking I should do some kind of lovely dovey song, but truth be told I am not a big fan of Valentine's Day these days. So I think I will stick with the song I had picked ahead of time: You Don't Own Me. A feminist kicker. I have also got the original version with Lesly Gore (1963) and I found a more recent version I quite like by Grace. The original is older than I am. You Don't Own Me - Lesley Gore 1963 A newer version by Grace. Lyrics of the Leslie Gore version: You don't know me, I'm not just one of your little toys You don't own me, don't say I can't play with other boys And don't tell me what to do, don't tell me what to say Please when I go out with you, don't put me on display Because you don't know me, don't try to shame me in any way You don't own me, don't tie me down 'cause I never stay And don't tell me what to say, don't tell me what to do Just let me be myself, that's all I ask from you I'm young and I like to be young I'm free and I like to be free To live my life the way I want To say and do whatever I please You don't know me, I'm not just one of your little toys You don't own me, don't say I can't play with other boys And don't tell me what to do, don't tell me what to say Please when I go out with you, don't put me on display I'm young and I like to be young I'm free and I like to be free To live my life the way I want To say and do whatever I please Songwriters: Cindy Walker, Eddy Arnold |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 13, 2020 These boots are made for walking.... Nancy Sinatra (1966 Original) versus Jessica Simpson's version from the Dukes of Hazard movie. I love the song, hate the videos. Both videos are over the top for me as far as short, skimpy outfits. I do like the part where Jessica punches the loser that smacks her bottom. The car washing scene is excessive as far as I'm concerned. Nancy Sinatra version: Jessica Simpson version: These Boots Are Made for Walkin’ Nancy Sinatra You keep a sayin' you got something for me something you call love but confess yes You've been a messin' where you shouldn't been a messin' And now someone else is a gettin' all your best These boots are made for walkin' and that's just what they'll do One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you You keep lyin' when you ought to be true then And you keep loosin' when you ought enough bad You keep a samin' when you oughta be a changin' The what's right is right and you ain't been right yet These boots are made for walkin' You keep a playin' where you shouldn't be playin' And you keep a thinkin' that you'll never get burned I've just found me a brand new box of matches yeah And what he knows you ain't that time to learn These boots are made for walkin' Come on boots let's walk all over Songwriters: LEE HAZLEWOOD © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Universal Music Publishing Group, BMG Rights Management. |
Soundtrack Of My Life February 12, 2020 So what song for today..... Maybe something that represents my interest in yoga and meditation... most of those are rather long and I already included something like that the first Sunday of the month. What about motivation.... yeah, let's go with that. Looking over the list in one article I decided on a favourite: Ain't No Mountain High Enough. I copied this from the article: “Don’t you know that there ain’t no mountain high enough. Ain’t no valley low enough, ain’t no river wide enough. To keep me from getting to you, baby”. Whatever your baby may be, it’s your goal. There may be obstacles on the way, but you can overcome them to reach that goal." https://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifestyle/30-inspirational-songs-that-keep-you... I like the fact that 'your baby' can be any goal you set your mind to. It gives the song a whole new level - one that does not have to be relationship based. That suits me just fine. Keep striving for your goals, baby! |
