Day 2 home with a congestion cold. I have a headache. I have been watching and listening to the Jodi Arias trial. It is interesting to watch a killer testify with the intention of saving herself. She is very smart and knows her way around the prosecution.
No Friday court. I have to say that dragging this court case out is wasting money. Why no Friday trials? Then wild about trial can't be in court after Mar 1soexcept for one hour of In session we get nothing but cuts the day after.Bummer.

Here it is Valentine's Day. Paul gave me three cards leading up to today. He went to deliver flowers for a friend that owns a florist shop. Her shop was on of the top 75 florist shops with FTD across the US. They had a convention of appreciation for the 75 in Chicago.
I hope I get flowers but if not its okay. We are going to dinner with his two sisters and their husbands. Both Linda and Val's birthday are the 2/6 and 2/14. Paul's is 1/30 so it will be a birthday celebration.
Still working on revising. Cleaning up the I am, I will, etc.

This is my first week back to work. It's gone by fast. My husband is coming home tonight (11:pm) and is bringing Chic-fil-A chicken with him. He hinted I need to get buns and leaf lettuce. At 11:30pm Do I need to eat a sandwich? I hope he eats it in the plane but I think he said he was going to buy a plastic container and put them in his suitcase. We don't have them here in the Pac NW So they are a treat for us when we go back east.
I'm re-reading my novel. I went through it and added another 28K words to finish it. Now I am browsing and changing the two words into consonants. I found some areas where I have too many THE's. There are other places that I need more or less description. When you are trying to put 50K in 30 days you don't stop to edit or worry about those things. I hope I have told a good story. The plot was interesting to me but I worry I didn't tell the story in an interesting and driven manner.

OH My I have failed again. At least as far as keeping this journal up. I did however finish my novel and its first revision. Already I've thought of something I missed tying up. That I will do in the epilogue or in an addendum chapter somewhere. It make take a long chapter, but then it may just need a conversation about the police follow up. I printed it and gave it to my mother and she is reading it now. So far she likes it and says it is interesting.
I am wondering about working on the last novel I wrote. Taking out the suitcase and the girl seems a great idea. I just don't know where to start the story. How does one give the main characters background, which is important. What is really important is the change from a devote Muslim Insurgent to someone that had a change of heart. Then to be confronted with an incident that forces him to make a choice. Allow four men he knows are suicide bombers wreak havoc in an airport which will include killing the very people who opened his eyes to a new life. What he does affects a lot of people.
Note: I just found out my husband will be driving within a few hundred miles of the very place I picked as the setting of my book, The Vanishing of Katherine Sullivan. I told him to take pictures of the towns he passes through to get a better flavor of the area.

Well, I have not been adding anything because I have just been sitting on the couch all day watching TV and revising ny 2012 novel. This has been a very successful revision. I am almost done with the last pages, yet I think the story seems a little stiff. A little clinical. I will have to go back and possibly put in more emotion, or detail. I will have someone else read it and see if story flows well. Right now it is about 130 pages and 61,000+ words
I go to the foot doctor tomorrow. M husband is pushing to get me back to work. I get disability pay for a few weeks, but they aren't enough.
We have to find another house as the owner of this one we are "housesitting" wants to put it up for sale this spring. He will sell it better without us here. It is back to looking for another house. I am glad because it will be more in our budget even if it will be a lot smaller!!

More problems but this time its my computer. It keeps locking up. I need to get a new one but no money right now.

I had to go to work today for a short demo on how to use a defibrillator, but I did find out that they don't work if it isn't needed. That is a good thing. It senses the need and works when appropriate. So If I pass out and am not breathing use the defib. if not hopefully some cute guy comes along and gives me CPR.

That's all for today. I am waiting for my ride home.

How sad. My internet went down and I haven't been able to get on the site.
I am doing very well on my revising. I am pleased. With no internet the work on my book is progressing. I think that I will be finished in a couple of weeks.

My parents came over to celebrate my father's 85th birthday (1/8/1928). My sister #2 (Kathy) and sister #5 (Susie) along with Susie's 3 children and my mother's brother came to my house for a small celebration. I, however, in my (drugged state. which is my only excuse)state of mind I forgot about the whole thing. I was reminded this afternoon and had to hurry and punt! We were to go to Kathy's house, my mother's request, but after I had Susie bring the ingredients over to make my heart attack hashbrowns and whipped cream fruit salad, my husband had a fit about going to my sister's because tonight was the big Orange Bowl game.
At the last hour everyone was guilted into coming to my house (my stitches were removed today and it did hurt but not that I couldn't have sat at Kathy's house). So everyone was moderately happy. They guys got to watch the game (along with the rest of us).
My father is a miracle. In Jan 2009 my father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He went through Chemo but found it didn't stop the cancer and was given 6-9 weeks to live. 3 Weeks later he was losing wt and had to be fed through a stomach pump. He attended our annual church campmeeting and was prayed for according to the instructions in the Bible. I think about 3 times. He and mom went back to their home on the Oregon Coast along with my niece who cooked for them. By the end of the 2nd week at home he was stealing bits of food from my mother's plate and said it didn't hurt very much when he swallowed them. At the beginning of August he ate a weiner and hamburger patty with the trimmings (no bun) and potato salad. At the end of August we had a party celebrating mom and dad's 60th wedding anniversary. He ate salad and bits of food here and there. He was gaining weight and passed the 6 weeks with the doctor still skeptical. 9weeks then 12 weeks passed. In Dec 2009 they gave him another MRI and found the cancer gone with little or no trace of it. His lymph nodes which had been doubling in size were now normal. This wasn't due to the Chemo. This was a miracle. He was 81 now he is 85. Age is catching up but he still drives the 2 hours from the coast to Portland for doctors appointments for he and mom and for special occasions. I see that them growing old and life changing and I don't know what the near future will be, but I do know that my father's life stands as a guide, a ruler, a standard and a memorial of what it means to walk close to God, to trust Him and know Him in a personal way.
This is not the only time I have seen God work in our family and in our situations through the years, but as I see my father and my mother (turns 85 in March) pass each month, they are steps closer to our reward, heaven. They will see my sister and others who have passed to their reward and that promise is what keeps me wanting to live my life in the same steps as my parents.
I am going to be better at keeping up with this journal in the days to come.

I just finished reading all the newsletters to check for Paper Doll Gang listings. It was a trial by memory as I don't have a good list of current members. I have to look them up by their login names.
I have gone through about 5 more pages of my novel but still it is slow going. I have to read, remember everything and then rewrite hoping I am not repeating stuff I wrote later in the story. It is going pretty well. I have cut and added so the word count is not increasing too much. I am very positive about this story as it is moving along.

My foot is resting, and it hurts in different places. At first is was fine then after 4 days the top of the foot is painful. That was not part of the surgery, or even something I would walk on. It is the TOP of the foot and it is tender to touch. I took a peek at it and it doesn't seem swollen or discolored, but it sure does HURT when I put pressure on the heel to walk.
Ok no more whining.
See you tomorrow

Here it is Jan 1 late afternoon with the men dozing during the Wisconsin vs Stanford game.
I had my foot surgery Dec 26th and I am recovering. The surgery went well and Monday the Dr changed the dressing (I didn't look) and said it was healing nicely but I needed to make sure that it was elevated.
On Monday Evening we were invited to our friend's house for fellowship. We had a great time. They are such good cooks. We ate sweet potato soup the first hour, a wonderful Kale inspired salad with pomegranate seeds and a great dressing. Later we had smoked pork sliders with coleslaw and black-eyed peas. Coconut wafers for dessert. It lasted from 6-12 and even though I sat with my foot up most of the time, there were times I joined the group and sat with my foot down. It is very sore today.
It is the top of my foot that hurts so bad, not my toe or area where the surgery was. So I laid on the couch most of the day with my foot on the arm rest (above my heart) and hope it gets better. I don't want to medicate the pain, I want it to go away on its own.

I have been working on my 2012 Nano manuscript. I haven't got very far, still on first chapter but I am editing and rewriting as I go. I am tired still and I hope that going to bed early tonight will revive me and I will be ready to hit the revising with more energy.

This is my last day of work this year. Dec 26 I go to have my foot operated on. I will be out of work for 4-6 weeks. I hope I heal fast.
In the mean time I will be working on my book. After a few weeks I want to see if I can work 4 hours a day until I can come back full time. So I will be silent until I feel like logging in probably after the first of the year.
