Other than some editing for spelling, punctuation and syntax, I think it's a very excellent, "food for thought" story about how a young person who is starting out in life with a very good reputation can quickly lose it by simply hanging out with the wrong people. Famous actor, humorist, and social commentator, "Will Rogers" stated, "it takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, but only five minutes to ruin it."
Your story brought back memories as what you described happened to me twice; once in elementary school and again in high school; when it ultimately dawned on me that whoever you're infatuated or in love with is under NO obligation to return those feelings, I was able to see and place those situations (and feelings) in proper perspective - it works.
Probably because, "I've been there - done that," and wondering, "why the hell am I wasting my time, there's 90 other people out in the hallway wanting this same damn job !!
Anyway, makes me appreciate being retired (and not having to deal with this nonsense any further) that much more ! Whew, am I glad I no longer have to play THAT game ! Uh, huh, oh yeah !
A very enlightening (and overdue) spin on what can easily translate into, "gobbledegook/hyperbole if the the blog is ALL blogosphere, opinions, with no serious fact checking or attempts to put stories into context.
Thanks for what I like to call, "Rules for Blogging."
Yes, the spirit crushing, "settling for less" just because you feel like you can't do any better, compounded by age, giving birth to the old cliche', "I'm not getting any younger". You spelled it out in heart wrenching detail.
Epiphanies are not just limited to, "happy events" in our lives; they can be equally painful as you have shared in this painful, but eloquent story of a broken heart.
