A poem from the point of view of Eve, the first ever woman. |
| Delight was once in my heart, for I was born on the holy mound of God, and shaped from the rib of my husband. Why couldn't Adam's and my happiness last forever? For life used to be such a delight, and a multitude of God's wild things, were our friends, and sons and daughters, and all were christened by Adam. And along came the devil in disguise of a snake, and lured us into biting into an apple from a tree we weren't even allowed to touch. Adam and I became as wise as God himself- for a big price. And I so hate that snake for ruining everything that was my joy and happiness, for when we left, a sword of flame was barred the way back to Eden. |
