a poem that gives vent to woman's angst at being reduced to body.

Maya Krishna and Lust series--the fox

Oh how the glimpses of goodness won me
for modicum of warmth in you i gave
all i could as a woman and writer
fox has no want for soul, flesh becomes its feast

humbled i begged for return of a loving look
to create the  magic of togetherness under the sky
just a brush of your shoulder against mine on  stairs
when you had talked your dreams and i had buried mine

the embrace of a reluctant lover in rain was gone
a hunted prey i felt under your gaze
oh how i had fooled myself to believe your goodness
sure the fox caught his game.
