Hooking up electronics can be dangerous |
| This is an excerpt from the novel. Not sure where it goes yet. Kristin decided to check on Tyrel and Mitch. She went to the extra room where they said they were going to set up the computer. When she got there the lights were out. She searched around and found the switch. One corner of the room lit up in sparks. In the strobing flashes Kristin could just barely see Mitch clench into Tyrel's shirt and yank him back from the wall. Darrel came up behind Kristin and flicked the switch back off. He turned on his cellphone flashlight. "Everyone Alright? Sound off." "Shawn!" "Dean!" "Kristin, you okay? Kristin!" Darrel shook her by the shoulders. Kristin raised a shaky hand and pointed to the corner. Darrel turned to see Mitch and Tyrel lying motionless in the dim light. Darrel went to Mitch and grabbed his jaw, shaking him. "Mitch, Mitch," "Whoa. I'm okay. Just took a jolt." Darrel went to Tyrel and patted his face and shook him. "Hey, get off," Tyrel whispered. He coughed and tried to sit up. "Easy big guy," said Mitch, "you took quite a jolt." Kristin slid down the wall hugging herself "My fault, my fault, my fault." "You couldn't have known, Kris." said Mitch. "We'll be okay." "You better be. We can't afford any hospital trips," said Darrel. Tyrel managed to ssit up. He was trembling some but mostly okay. Kristin left the room and went to the bedroom. She knew Darrel was right. They couldn't afford any hospitals. |
