Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Psalm 89:15-18
15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.
16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
18 For the Lord is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

Explain these verses.

Answer:
God glorifies his people as they follow him and walk in his ways. He causes them to rejoice. I believe this joyful sound to be rejoicing and celebration. We are blessed and we win when we live for Jesus.

Scripture writing - Romans 8:35-39

Scripture:
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Observations:
Verse 35- Nothing and No one can separate from the love of Christ.
Verse 36- Even when we are suffering persecution, we are not separated from His love.
Verse 37- we are MORE than conquerors in Christ.
Verses 38 and 39- Nothing in or out of this world 🌎 can separate us from God's love which we have in Jesus Christ.

Application:
We are loved unconditionally by God.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for loving me. Thank you for the security and assurance I find in you.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen

Geese are beautiful birds. I love to take pictures of them when I can. It amazes me to watch them in flight. I have taken some awesome pictures of geese in the past. I would love to get some more. I think one day I would love to go to a lake and watch the sun rise or set while taking some pictures and if I am lucky there will be some geese there too.

Day 5056: March 31, 2021

Prompt: "It is the nature of the strong heart, that like the palm tree it strives ever upwards when it is most burdened." ~ Philip Sidney
Write about nature and palm trees.

The ninja monkeys would like this prompt I think. 😂 I get a mental picture of them climbing the palm trees, picking the coconuts, and throwing them at people and each other from in in the tree they are in. 😂

There is a game for the Xbox One and Wii that is Super Mario Party 8. It has a board you can play that is tropical and has mini games that include monkeys climbing ropes while trying to avoid getting hit in the head with coconuts. It is quite the challenge and a fun little family game. I recommend it, and yes there are palm trees in this game. 😊🌴🥥

Palm trees make me think of a beach or a tropical area. I think of sunshine and a light breeze. Short of a picture of a hurricane, it is actually quite a relaxing scene I see in my imagination. It would be fun to go to a place like this and take pictures, especially if there are seagulls or other animals around the area and close to sunrise or sunset with a few clouds floating in the sky.

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Psalm 84:4-5;12
4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

How can we dwell in God's house and put our strength in him? What do these verses mean?

Answer:
To dwell in God's house is to be in His presence. To put our strength in God means we don't rely on our own strength. We rely on God's direction, Word, and will. We trust him to fight for us and to work through and in us. It is completely relying on God for everything.

Scripture writing - James 3:16-18

Scripture:
16 For where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Observations:
Verse 16- Envying and strife produce evil and confusion.
Verse 17- The wisdom that comes from God does not produce evil and confusion. It is pure, gentle, promotes peace, easy to be heard and accepted, full of mercy and goodness, and without hypocrisy and favoritism.
Verse 18- The end result of righteousness is peace.

Application:
God is a God of Peace. Good works lead to the end result of peace. Anything evil, such as envying and strife, leads to confusion and the opposite of peace.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me to always pursue the way of peace. Help me to remember verse 17 so that my life will produce the fruits of the Spirit.
In Jesus‘ name,
Amen

Prompt Anne Frank wrote, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
Can you imagine what would Anne Frank do could she have survived the Holocaust? Tell us what comes to your mind.

I would imagine her story may have been one similar to Corrie Ten Boom’s. I find it interesting that both women have books and museums and movies credited to their lives.

Day 5055: March 30, 2021

Prompt: You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for his own improvement and, at the same time, share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful. Marie Curie
Use this quote in your blog entry.

My thoughts on the above quote:

If you want to improve the world, the best place to begin is within yourself. Until you fix what is wrong with yourself, it is hard to fix what is wrong with anyone else. We can't help every one we meet, but we can help the people we can one individual at a time. Change is a process. Improvement takes time and effort. The only way to have the world improve is by a bunch of individuals improving themselves and helping others in their personal circle along the way.

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Psalm 65:4
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

What does it mean to be chosen of God?

Answer:
I thought this verse was interesting. The beliefs in predestination is not something I completely understand. However, sometimes when children are adopted, I have heard it said of them that they were chosen. Another thought is of the story of Esther. When anyone approached the king without being called by him first, they risked being put to death. It is a picture of a king being the ultimate authority and to be reverenced and feared. We should have this same reverence and fear before God who is the king of kings. We are allowed to come before him when we have been washed in the blood of Christ. We are then allowed to dwell in the presence of Almighty God.

Scripture writing - James 3:13-15

Scripture:
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

Observations:
Verse 13- If you are wise and have knowledge, then you should be able to show good works with good clean conversation with humbleness and wisdom. (cursing uncontrollably is considered foolishness in the Bible. This is a verse that indirectly states this.
Verse 14- You should not lie and try to cover up any bitterness, foolishness, or strife. You should confess it immediately, and seek repentance.
Verse 15- Bitterness, foolishness, and strife does not come from God. It is wicked and devilish. It is earthly and sensual - relating to physical gratification.

Application:
Bitterness, foolishness, and strife gratify us physically in the flesh for the moment, but in the end are destructive to us and to others. They are not from God. They are promoted by the devil. They produce wickedness.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me to never harbor bitterness, foolishness or strife in my heart. Teach me wisdom and knowledge so I can do good works with good clean conversation.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen

Make-up Scripture writing - Matthew 21:21-22

For March 28th, 2021

Scripture:
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Observations:
Verse 21- If you have faith without doubts, your prayers can move mountains.
Verse 22- Anything you ask for in prayer with mountain moving faith, you will receive.

Application:
Pray in faith without doubting.

Prayer:
God,
I want to have faith that will move mountains. Teach me what it means to have that kind of faith. Your word also says that if any of us lack faith, to let them ask of God who gives to all men liberally (not sparingly ). So please give me that type of faith.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen

Prompt “Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect,” JK Rowling wrote in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
What does she mean? Have you found everything or even some things that you have lost?

I don't think things we lose always come back to us, but the things that truly matter or are meant to be do come back. And they don't always do it the way you would expect them to come back to you.

Write about Leprechauns today.

They are a fun legend for stories. I don't believe they are real. According to Wikipedia, they are male fairies from Irish folklore. Apparently, Santa Clause is more believable and based on true stories as posed to these little creatures dressed in green. However, they do make for some really fun fairy tales, literally. 😂

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Psalm 41:1-3
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
3 The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

How can we apply this passage to our own lives?

Answer:
We are blessed when we help the poor because God will help us too.

If we help the poor, God will:
-Deliver us out of trouble.
-Preserve us.
-Keep us alive.
-Blesses us upon the earth.
-Does not deliver us to the will of our enemies.
-Will strengthen us upon the bed of languishing. (Languishing = failing to make progress or be successful) https://www.google.com/search?q=languishing&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=sa...
-Will take care of us in sickness.

This seems like a pretty good trade to me.

Scripture writing - 1 Thessalonians 5:23-28

Scripture:
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Observations:
Verse 23- God is a God of peace. God is the one who sanctifies us, and he does it all the way, not just partly. The sanctification that God gives, make us blameless and preserves us for Christ’s return.
Verse 24- God is faithful. He is the one who calls you and will follow through on his promises.
Verse 25- Pray for others.
Verse 26- Greet all the fellow Christians in love.
Verse 27- The writer wants all Christians to read his letter.
Verse 28- May the Grace of Jesus be with us all.

Application:
God is a God of peace. He sanctifies us. God is faithful.

Prayer:
Dear Father God,
You are a faithful father. Help me to remember you are a God of peace, and I should pursue peace. Thank you for your sanctification and the grave that is found in Jesus Christ.
In Jesus’s name,
Amen

How do you handle confrontation?

I don't really like confrontation. I try to avoid it if I can. When I get angry, I don't like the angry me that comes out. It is a scary side of myself that even I am afraid of. I try to keep that part of me locked away unless I absolutely need it. I like to call it my monster in a cage. It isn’t pretty when I let it out. I am normally a nice, fun-loving, kind, easy going type of person. My anger is a force to be reckoned with. People who threaten the ones I love will see the monster in me.

I know that my anger does not bring forth the righteousness of the God I serve. This is another reason I try hard to keep it in check. This is an area in my life where God shows his grace and mercy a lot. He is definitely still working on me especially in this area.

When I do have to deal with confrontation, I try very hard to keep myself calm. I try to respond cooly and quietly. I have been told that when I am angry and trying to control it, my voice becomes monotone. I try to remain in control. I try to remain respectful and professional. (especially when working in customer service ) I will remain firm. I can be quite stubborn when I want to be. I am not usually one to be aggressive unless severely provoked, but I am also not one to back down easily. I am no easy pushover unless I choose to be. I remind myself that each reaction may have permanent and/or long term consequences. I ask myself if losing control of my temper is really worth it. This has actually kept me out of a few fistfights. Sometimes, if you just observe the situation and try to see beyond the surface, you may learn something and be glad that you did.

I usually don't get my blog posted until later in the day because I work on it as I have time throughout the day.

My hope is that this will be a group and place for people to learn about God and for Christians to grow in Christ and fellowship together. I hope to eventually incorporate scripture memorization/familiarity, possibly optional blog prompts, Bible quizzes along with other fun activities, and a place to find other Christian groups and resources. If anyone has anything you would like to include or contribute or would like to see a link added to an item, send me a message and let me know. I am open to hearing other ideas also. I guess we all have our bad days and days we struggle to control our emotions. Yesterday was one of those days for me. As I was trying to calm myself and say my daily prayer before bed, I was telling God how frustrated I was and I was kind of just talking out my feelings with God. There is a person (person A) in my life who is associated with another very important person (person B) in my life. Person A is not a nice person. They claim to be a Christian, but their actions and lifestyle obviously state otherwise. I do not like being around this person or the company they keep. There are times, because of my relationship with person B, I feel like I don't have a choice but to be around person A and the company they keep. Both persons are someone I have known since school days. Person A brings out the not so nice and not very Christ-like side of my personality. I struggle with anger. I am human, and it sometimes shows. Thank God, we have a Savior in Jesus. I definitely need him. Anyway, I was telling God how frustrated I was that I had to spend time around that person and why. The quiet, still, small voice responded, “How do you think I feel when I have to be around people who are sinning?” That stopped me in my tracks. Wow! That is something to consider.

Scripture writing - 1 Thessalonians 5:12-17

Scripture:
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.

Observations:
Verse 12- Get to know your leaders and fellow Christians.
Verse 13- Be at peace with them and love one another for the sake of the cause of Christ.
Verse 14- Warn those who are not acting right. Comfort those that aren't very intelligent or have a low IQ. Support and help the week. Be patient with everyone.
Verse 15- Never retaliate when someone mistress you. Always do what is good and right.
Verse 16- Rejoice forever.
Verse 17- Always continue praying.

Application:
Get to know other Christians you are working with and your leaders too. Always love them and be at peace with them. Warn those who are not acting right. Comfort those that aren't very intelligent or have a low IQ. Support and help the week. Be patient with everyone. Never retaliate. Always do what is right. Always pray and rejoice in the Lord.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for fellowship with other Christians. Be with me as I get to know others and help me to remain at peace with them. Help me to love others the way you love them. Remind me to never retaliate because vengeance belongs to you. Help me to always be rejoiceful.

How do we taste and see that the Lord is good and apply these verses to our life?

Scripture writing - Matthew 5:13-16

Scripture:
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Observations:
According to dictionary.com, the definition of salt is a crystalline compound, sodium chloride, NaCl, occurring as a mineral, a constituent of seawater, etc., and used for seasoning food, as a preservative, etc.

I have heard different explanations for this. The common one I hear is that we are to be set apart. We represent Christ. We are a peculiar people. I am sure there is a lot of depth and different meanings that can be taken from this verse.

We know salt is a seasoning. I find it interesting that right after saying we are the salt of the earth, Jesus tells us we are the light of the world.

Matthew 5:14-16
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I believe these verses all go together. We are to season the earth and to lead by example what it means to follow Christ. By being a good example, we are lighting the way for others.

Salt is also a preservative. We, who follow Christ, preserve the earth. We preserve it in a few ways. We preserve it through prayer, and by teaching future generations what is right and to fear God. We preserve it by fearing and honoring God

It was easier to explain these verses this way instead of verse by verse like I usually do.

Application:
We as Christians season and preserve the earth. We let our light shine by following God's will and keeping his commandments. This glorifies God.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Help me to be a light in the darkness.
In Jesus ‘s name,
Amen

I will be glad when the Dr figures out what is causing my health issues. It is not fun to feel exhausteded all the time. I went from always being active to hardly feeling like doing anything on a daily basis. I get up and try to make myself do stuff some days, and my body literally trembles from exhaustion. It is really quite frustrating. You see the dishes and laundry piling up but literally don't have the energy or strength to do them. I am also a caregiver to my best friend/roommate. Some days it is all I can do to take care of both of our basic needs right now. I want to be active. This is so not like me. The person I normally am has to be told to sit down and be still. Stop working so hard, etc... Please pray for me for answers and healing. Today is kind of a frustrating day. I keep getting headaches too. I have a Dr appointment Friday. I have got my fingers crossed. 🤞

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Psalm 33:12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

What does it mean for a nation to have God as their Lord? Does America or the nation you live in have God as the Lord? Why or why not? What can you do to promote or encourage God to be the Lord of your nation?

Answer:
When I go back and look at American history, I think there are some questionable actions on the part of the white people to call it fully Christian. When I was growing up, I was raised in a Christian home and went to Christian schools. I was taught that our country was a Christian country founded on Christianity. Now that I am an adult, I think the wool was pulled over some people’s eyes. Yes, Christians had a part in establishing this country, and there were many people who came to the “new” country to have freedom of religion. There were several that came to America to escape the prosecution of the Catholic Church. Hmm! Catholic is also classified as Christian religion. So I guess in a way, it depends on your definition of Christian.

I define a nation that has God as their Lord just as I would an individual except that a nation is composed of many individuals. To have God as your Lord, you obey his commandments. You love him and seek his will first in everything. According to this definition, sadly America is turning their back on God, and people wonder why the country is in the condition it is in.

To help point a country in the direction of making God their Lord, we have to begin within ourselves. Then we can pray for others and point others in the right direction.

Scripture writing - Hebrews 6:17-20

Scripture:
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Observations:
Verse 17- God was willing to show the heirs of the promise that his counsel is unchanging. He confirmed it with a promise.
Verse 18- Because of this, he confirmed his words by 2 unchangeable things. It is impossible for God to lie. He gave us strong comfort to those of us who fled to him for refuge for the hope of his promise.
Verse 19 - Jesus is our permanent anchor for our soul, sure and steadfast.
Verse 20- Jesus is our high priest and has set a good example for us.

Application:
God's counsel is wise and unchanging. God is does not lie. God is as sure and steadfast as a permanent anchor. He gives stong comfort to those who come to him with hope in his promises.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for your good counsel. I am so glad I can always take refuge in you. You not only give a little comfort, you give strong comfort to those who hope in your promises. Always let me trust in you.
In Jesus’s mighty name I pray,
Amen

Prompt: in your opinion what is needed for a habit to form? How much time and what kind of work? Do you believe in those time constraints that say, it takes 21 days, or 3 months, or a full year to form a new habit?

I have always heard it takes about a month to form a habit. Of course, they say everything gets easier with time, but they don't specify how much time. My personal opinion is that it depends on the habit you are trying to form. Some are harder to stick with then others. Persistence is the key to forming new habits. You can’t just commit yourself to a short period of time. You have to stick with it for as long as it takes and set your mind to do so.

Write about angels today.

I believe in angels. That is the short version.😉 I really don't want to type out the long version, so I will see if I can end up somewhere in the middle. I have actually seen angels with my own eyes on more than one occasion. There are different types of angels and different ranks of angels. They each fulfill a specific purpose. Also, I want to point out that the Bible doesn't say we only have one Guardian Angel as popularly as it is believed. We have more then one. Psalms 91 says he will give his angels charge over there to keep there in all thy ways. Although, Psalm 34 says the angel of the Lord encamps around those that fear the Lord. These are all interesting thoughts. The study of angels is quite interesting.

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Psalm 32:1-2
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

How can we avoid having guile in our spirit?

Answer:
The dictionary describes guile as sly or cunning intelligence. So I believe what this Scripture is saying is that you are blessed when you don't have a deceitful heart. We avoid having guile in our spirit when we are honest with ourselves and others.

Scripture writing - Hebrews 6:13-16

Scripture:
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

Observations:
Verse 13- There is nothing or anyone greater than God.
Verse 14- God is promising Abraham blessing upon blessing and that he would have many descendants.
Verse 15- Abraham patiently waited and ensured life until he received God's promise.
Verse 16- when men swear on something, they tend to swear on what the esteem to be the greatest thing or entity. When men live patiently and peacefully, they will receive what was promised of God.

Application:
God keeps his promises. We will receive those promises when we live in peace with others and wait patiently for God to fulfill them.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your good and precious promises and for the truth of your word. Help me to live peacefully and patiently wait on you. I know you are sovereign. There is none greater than you.
In Jesus’s name I pray,
Amen

“The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.”
Elie Wiesel
How does indifference affect you?

Indifference to me is selfish and it is carelessness. It makes me angry to even think about it. I am an empath and I just don't see how anyone can be indifferent. I am passionate about things. Where is passion in indifference? Indifference is cruel in my opinion.

Make-Up Scripture writing - Isaiah 43:1-7

For March 21, 2021

Scripture:
1 But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

Observations:
Verse 1- God created his people Israel. He claims them as his own. There is no reason to fear because they belong to him now.
Verse 2- God is always with them. They don't have to fear floods or fire because God will protect them.
Verse 3- God is Lord and Saviour.
Verse 4- God will give the life of other people to save his own. He loves his people and honors them. They are precious to him in his sight.
Verse 5- Again, there is no reason to fear when God is with you.
Verse 6- He will gather his people from the ends of the earth.
Verse 7- God has created everyone for his glory, especially those called by his name.

Application:
God has created his people. He is always with his people so there is no reason for them to fear. They are precious in his sight. He loves and honors them. He will go to the ends of the earth for them and will give the lives of other people and nations for them. His people belong to him. They always are under his protection.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Protect me from the evil one and any evil plans the enemy may make towards me. Help me not to stumble and fall. Keep me securely established in you. Remind me every day how precious I am to you and how loved I am by you. Thank you for your love.
In Jesus‘s mighty and holy name,
Amen

Question: Would anyone be interested in a scripture memorization activity? If so, do you have any ideas of how we can do something like that on here short of posting a scripture memory verse of the week? Although, I have thought about doing that too.

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Romans 4:6-8
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

What are these verses saying?

Answer:
Salvation is a blessing. Salvation is not obtained by works, but by Faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Scripture writing - Psalm 61:1-5

Scripture:
1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.

Observations:
Verse 1- The psalmist is asking God to hear their prayer.
Verse 2- Whenever we feel overwhelmed, we can cry out to God from wherever we are. He plants our feet on higher, solid ground.
Verse 3- God has always been a shelter and refuge for the psalmist.
Verse 4- We can always choose to take refuge in God.
Verse 5- God has heard what we have promised him and we will receive all the blessings he gives to all those that fear him.

Application:
God is our hiding place and refuge.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Hide me in there. Plant my feet on solid and higher ground. Be my security.
In Jesus’s name,
Amen

 This house  (E)

Write about an old house being remodeled.

When I was in my late 30’s, my parent's house that I grew up in from infancy was in very bad shape while my parents were still living in it. They did not keep it in good repair. I had tried to talk them into moving or repairing the old house for several years, but they just wouldn't hear it.

One day my aunt, Dad's sister, came for a visit from out of state. After she saw the condition of the house, she got the family organized to get my parents into a better place. Again, I tried to warn them, but they just wouldn't listen to me.

To make a long story short, my aunt’s daughter got my dad to sign over power of attorney to her and convince my mother to do the same. My mom had fallen and broken her arm and had just gotten out of the hospital from having surgery on it to have pins put in. I don't feel she was in her right mind until at least a couple weeks after the fact, but I have no way to prove it. As a result, they were moved to an elderly independent living apartment and the house was sold.

Later, out of curiosity, I looked the house up online to see if it had been placed back on the market yet. It had, and I was shocked. Pictures were also posted. It had been completely remodeled. I would have never dreamed it could look like that in a million years. A 3 bedroom flat ranch house was converted into a 2 bedroom house. The bedrooms and bathrooms were on the opposite side of the house than they used to be. It looked like an entirely different house. It had beautiful wooden floors and the kitchen was now where my bedroom used to be. The old front porch had been converted into a patio. It was absolutely beautiful.
