Forgiveness?

Forgiveness?

Sweet forgiveness is rare enough
in the blame culture of today;
we’re not made of such fine stuff,
more often needing someone to pay
the piper wants his pound of flesh,
and slight offence requires rebuke,
so every cut just wounds afresh,
and slightest hurt demands a nuke.
