Labor Day, duh?

I realized today that there is only one more day left in this month, and that I had promised myself to submit something, somewhere during the month. So, tonight or, more likely tomorrow morning before work, I'll be looking through the Duotrope newsletter hunting for places I can send something that's already been published here.

What do the rest of you do about that dilemma?

If I write something I don't post here, is it okay to email it to a couple of people for private comments? That doesn't count as publishing, does it? How about if it's been posted here, but I change it a little and change the title?

I went today to visit a beautiful lady whose kidneys are shutting down. She is demented enough that she is unaware of that, but clear enough to retain her gracious habits of welcome and compliments. Her mother was from Italy, and her husband was Italian. She has beautiful, long, wavy snow white hair. And she couldn't understand a thing I said to her, but smiled and sometimes said things like, "You don't mean it!" Bending very close to her ear, I asked her where her hearing aids were. (Silly of me. She wouldn't know.) She was perplexed: "How did you know I didn't have them in?" she wanted to know.

Have you ever noticed the ads at the top of your blog? Is that just a program that scans for words and picks the products, or do real people get to read and match them up? Sounds like fun.
