Morning breeze whispers
Through palm fronds and olive trees
A wind chill factor

When I was a kid, to put me in my place, I was told, “It is not all about you!”
If someone were to tell you “It is not all about you,” what could they mean in general, and to what, do you think, the word “IT” might refer?

"It is not all about you!"
And "It is not not all about me!"
We live in a world that needs less egocentricity.

The planet is dying
while egocentric politicians are denying
the reality of climate change.

Everyday on the news
we hear about more natural disasters:
hurricanes and tornadoes,
bleached coral reefs,
forest and prairie fires destroying ecosystems,
droughts,
floods,
out of season blizzards,
etc.

"It is not all about you!"
And "It is not not all about me!"
We human beings need to face reality.

If we do not change our egocentric ways
we will destroy the planet
and ourselves
in a greedy blaze.
