The Lady is a Trucker She pulls off the neon leapfrog green driving gloves, snuffs out her Gauloises and parks her black licorice barque of a truck at the roadside. Eight hours to Dayton, to family, to laughter . to a daughter growing too fast. The backyard beer garden smells of cut grass. Mason jars of wildflowers stand sentinel on the groaning boards. She is hoping for some smooth jazz and even smoother whiskey. She listens, breathes, digs her feet in this sacred earth. Her spirit lives here. In the morning she drills, pulls on her jeans, adjusts the ballerina pink belt, with a buckle, that says, "Queen of the Road" sets off again. And though the sky is falling, she turns the key.
