One (2000) by Johnny Cash (1932-2003) Cover, writers: U2 Is it getting better Or do you feel the same? Will it make it easier on you, now You got someone to blame? You said one love, one life When it's one need in the night One love, we get to share it It leaves you, baby, if you don't care for it Did I disappoint you Or leave a bad taste in your mouth? You act like you never had love And you want me to go without Well, it's too late tonight To drag the past out into the light We're one, but we're not the same We get to carry each other, carry each other One Have you come here for forgiveness? Have you come to raise the dead? Have you come here to play Jesus To the lepers in your head? Did I ask too much? More than a lot You gave me nothing, now it's all I got We're one, but we're not the same Well, we hurt each other, and we're doing it again You say love is a temple, love the higher law Love is a temple, love the higher law You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl And I can't be holding on to what you've got When all you've got is hurt One love, one blood One life, you've got to do what you should One life with each other Sisters, brothers One life, but we're not the same We get to carry each other, carry each other One One On Is it better? Do you feel to blame? One life One in the night One love leaves if you don't care Did I disappoint? Leave a bad taste? You act like you never had me To go without Well, it's too late Past out Light Not the same Carry each other On Come here To raise To play in your head I ask too much More Nothing It's all I got On Not the same Well, we're doing it again Say, love A temple, the higher law Ask me to enter You make me holding on All you've got On Love, blood, life Each other Not the same Carry each other On. ** Image ID #2233645 Unavailable ** |
Famous Blue Raincoat (1971) by Leonard Cohen (1934-2016) Famous Blue Raincoat It's four in the morning, the end of December I'm writing you now just to see if you're better New York is cold, but I like where I'm living There's music on Clinton Street all through the evening I hear that you're building Your little house deep in the desert You're living for nothing now I hope you're keeping some kind of record Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear Did you ever go clear? Oh, the last time we saw you you looked so much older Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder You'd been to the station to meet every train But then you came home without Lili Marlene And you treated my woman To a flake of your life And when she came back She was nobody's wife Well, I see you there with the rose in your teeth One more thin gypsy thief Well I see Jane's awake She sends her regard And what can I tell you my brother, my killer? What can I possibly say? I guess that I miss you. I guess I forgive you I'm glad you stood in my way If you ever come by here For Jane or for me Well, your enemy is sleeping And his woman is free Yes, and thanks for the trouble You took from her eyes I thought it was there for good So I never tried And Jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear Sincerely, a friend Famous Rain It's morning, the End! I'm writing you: I like where I'm living There's music I hear Deep in the living some kind of record Yes, you said that night You planned to go Did you? Oh, the famous rain Been to the station every train came without you Life! Well, I see you one more gypsy I send regard What can I tell you, my killer? What can I possibly say? I miss you, I guess I'm glad If you ever come here Well, sleeping is free You took I tried You gave That night Sincerely, a friend. ** Image ID #2170457 Unavailable ** |

Mississippi Goddam (1964) by Nina Simone (1933–2003) The name of this tune is Mississippi goddam And I mean every word of it Alabama's gotten me so upset Tennessee made me lose my rest And everybody knows about Mississippi goddam Alabama's gotten me so upset Tennessee made me lose my rest And everybody knows about Mississippi goddam Can't you see it Can't you feel it It's all in the air I can't stand the pressure much longer Somebody say a prayer Alabama's gotten me so upset Tennessee made me lose my rest And everybody knows about Mississippi goddam This is a show tune But the show hasn't been written for it, yet Hound dogs on my trail School children sitting in jail Black cat cross my path I think every day's gonna be my last Lord have mercy on this land of mine We all gonna get it in due time I don't belong here I don't belong there I've even stopped believing in prayer Don't tell me I tell you Me and my people just about due I've been there so I know They keep on saying 'Go slow!' But that's just the trouble 'Do it slow' Washing the windows 'Do it slow' Picking the cotton 'Do it slow' You're just plain rotten 'Do it slow' You're too damn lazy 'Do it slow' The thinking's crazy 'Do it slow' Where am I going What am I doing I don't know I don't know Just try to do your very best Stand up be counted with all the rest For everybody knows about Mississippi goddam I made you thought I was kiddin' Picket lines School boy cots They try to say it's a communist plot All I want is equality For my sister my brother my people and me Yes you lied to me all these years You told me to wash and clean my ears And talk real fine just like a lady And you'd stop calling me Sister Sadie Oh but this whole country is full of lies You're all gonna die and die like flies I don't trust you any more You keep on saying 'Go slow!' 'Go slow!' But that's just the trouble 'Do it slow' Desegregation 'Do it slow' Mass participation 'Do it slow' Reunification 'Do it slow' Do things gradually 'Do it slow' But bring more tragedy 'Do it slow' Why don't you see it Why don't you feel it I don't know I don't know You don't have to live next to me Just give me my equality Everybody knows about Mississippi Everybody knows about Alabama Everybody knows about Mississippi goddam, that's it. Lesson 1. Discussion. http://writetodone.com/31-ways-to-find-inspiration-for-your-writing/ Blog/writing journal: I try to blog every day with "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" [13+] and if possible various other blogging groups. It helps me stay focussed on writing. Music: I listen to music but not that often. But I find when I do, it inspires me a lot. I plan to listen more to music. Youtube for instance when I am working the computer. Free Writing: This is a wonderful tool to keep on writing no matter what. A lot is bound to be garbage but sometimes there is that one line I like. Lesson One – Noveling Exercise - Part A: Finding Inspiration. Note 1: Tuesday evening, 22:10 hrs. Sitting on a bench near the water. Sounds drifting above the open water. Kids shouting, talking, laughing. Passing on the other side of the water on their bikes. Water is soothing, it calms me. Wind through my hair. Beautiful sky with clouds above the water. Note 2: Wednesday 9:30 hrs. An ambulance with flashing lights (no siren) passing the waterfront of the canal. |

I found this online writing course for free here at WdC by Katzendragonz . Great! Starting today. I want to write a novel like so many of us, but I didn't know where and how to start. This online course will be a great help. I can feel it. It will inspire me tremendously and it will (hopefully) get my Muse into gear. I can use all the help I can get. |
