Ten years ago I was writing several blogs on various subjects - F1 motor racing, Music, Classic Cars, Great Romances and, most crushingly, a personal journal that included my thoughts on America, memories of England and Africa, opinion, humour, writing and anything else that occurred. It all became too much (I was attempting to update the journal every day) and I collapsed, exhausted and thoroughly disillusioned in the end.
So this blog is indeed a Toe in the Water, a place to document my thoughts in and on WdC but with a determination not to get sucked into the blog whirlpool ever again. Here's hoping.
That's amazing. I just recently heard on the radio about some problems with students entering college who can't read. Yet here is a child who self-taught before entering school.
I'll mention here that I do the same—but in the opposite way. I tend to use mostly colloquial syntax, and when people see me switch (for whatever reason), they're often surprised that I'm..."smart" (their words, not mine ), even though I've communicated the same ideas before in different ways. The interpretation of syntax is a interesting thing.
Putting a high value on words, their meanings, purposes and proper places is not a bad thing in and of itself
When combined with a certain attitude, it can be a bit much, but I've never seen you guilty of that
