While walking from the library to Drew’s house, the boys had made an important discovery, following the strange fainting spell that both of them had experienced barely an hour earlier at the park that afternoon. Drew had realized he gained some kind of alien power to alter reality, but this weird power didn’t seem to affect other people. While walking to his house, Drew found out that this power only seemed to affect his best friend, Jared.
“I guess I can only change your body, bro!” Drew smiled, as he walked next to Jared, who now had bigger pectorals, wider shoulders and thicker, wider quads. Jared was much bigger than he had been an hour earlier, and this was all thanks to Drew just ordering Jared’s muscles to expand and grow. “My powers don’t seem to work on other people. So, you’re the only person I can test this on!”
Drew and Jared finally reached the front door to Drew’s house. Drew unlocked the door and the boys walked in. They went into the kitchen and they enjoyed a glass of cold water since both of them had become thirsty from walking in the summer heat.
“So, what do you wanna do, next?” Jared asked him. “You want to change me some more?”
“Well, I want to see what else I can do. I guess I can grow your muscles and make you taller. I just want to see if I can do other things!” Drew reasoned.
“Oh, sure! Maybe you can make me three years older?” Jared laughed.
“Sure! I want you to become three years older!” Drew just repeated.
Jared just stood there and braced himself for some kind of change to happen as Drew stared at him intently. After about thirty seconds had passed, both boys realized that nothing had happened.
“Aww… That didn’t work! Maybe I said it wrong, or it didn’t work because I repeated something that you said first.” Drew blurted out. “Well, let’s get you to my room right now!”
PING!
Suddenly, Jared vanished into thin air, and he popped up standing in Drew’s bedroom, a split second later.
POP!
“What the heck?” Drew gasped as he saw Jared disappear before his very eyes.
“DREW! Ohmygosh!” Drew heard shouting coming from his bedroom. “HOW DID YOU DO THAT?”
“Where are you?” Drew shouted from the kitchen.
“IN YOUR ROOM!” Jared shouted, as he opened the door and walked out of the bedroom. “I think you teleported me to your room!”
“Oh, wow! I didn’t realize I could do that!” Drew grinned. “I want you back here, standing before me!”
PING!
Jared vanished from the bedroom and appeared standing before Drew in the kitchen, a few feet away.
POP!
“WHAA! You did it AGAIN!” Jared shouted.
“Alright, alright… I think it works when I tell you to do something, and the idea comes from me, and not from YOU.” Drew pondered. “I want you to tell me why I couldn’t make you grow three years older, a minute ago!”
“Uhh… Your commands have to be your idea, and not coming from me! Your power only works on me and nobody else. You can do anything you want, as long as the commands are totally yours, and not suggested by me. I have no say in what you do to me because you’re in control and not me!” Jared suddenly blurted out.
“Ah! I can ask you to explain my powers if I need to!” Drew laughed. “You know everything about them, so I just need to ask you!”
“Ohh… I wonder how I got to know all that?” Jared said, looking confused.
“Alright, so I guess I can teleport you? Can you explain that to me?” Drew asked him.
“You can teleport me anywhere you want, just by thinking of any location you’ve seen or been to. Then, you command me to be at that location and you’ll send me there instantly, until you command me to come back to where you want me to be at.” Jared answered. “Ohh, wow! You control where I’m gonna be at, every second of the day!”
“Oh! Nice! Well, I can send you to school in the morning, bro! No more riding the bus for you!” Drew laughed.
“What a relief!” Jared smiled as he rolled his eyes. “I’d really like that!”
“I must be able to change your clothes. Let’s see… if I can put you in your soccer gear…” Drew mumbled.
PING!
Instantly, Jared was engulfed in a bright light! When the light faded, his t-shirt and jeans were instantly replaced by his soccer jersey, soccer shorts, long socks and his soccer cleats on his feet! Jared looked down and gasped when he realized he was standing in Drew’s bedroom wearing his full soccer uniform!
“DANG! You changed my clothes!” Jared shouted. “So fast! I didn’t even feel anything!”
“SWEET!” Drew chuckled, smiling at his pal. “You ought to be on the soccer field at the park right now!”
PING!
Jared instantly vanished again!
“Oh wow! I think I sent him to the park while wearing his soccer uniform!” Drew giggled.
POP!
“Holy crap! I’m at the soccer field!” Jared gasped, when he realized that he was no longer standing in Drew’s bedroom. “He sent me here!”
Jared took a few steps and walked towards the goal. He was there all alone. None of the other kids were there because there was no practice that day.
“Aww… What am I doing here? Drew needs to send me back! This is boring!” he sighed, as he squatted down while sitting in the goal.
PING!
Jared popped up, back in Drew’s bedroom.
PING!
“Welcome back, bro!”
“HEY! Uhh… thanks for sending me back. There wasn’t anyone for me to play soccer with at the park!” Jared complained.
“I know. I was just testing my powers. Next time, I’ll send you there when I get a text from one of the guys when they tell me they’re going to the park, okay?”
“Uhh… If you insist!”
“Hey… Soccer is good for you… Plus, you really can’t stop me from teleporting you somewhere, can you?” Drew figured out.
Jared wondered about that and then he lowered his gaze.
“Uhh… No, there isn’t. I’m just a passenger going along for the ride. I guess there’s no way for me to stop you… You’re in charge!” he said meekly.
“Don’t worry, Jared. I won’t make you do anything that you won’t like!” Drew said with a wide grin. “Plus, I can always make you older, bigger, stronger and faster, no matter where I send you and no matter what sport I make you play!”
Jared took a deep breath as he pondered all this. His life was really in Drew’s hands now.
“Okay, so… What do you want to test on me, next?” Jared shrugged.
