She smiled back "Sure John" then after a brief pause "Well as you know Aunts can be eccentric and can often see things in children that their own parents cannot"

You nod your head in agreement.

She grinned "So let me paint a scene for you, during your last visit to your Aunt she noticed you looking at one of her maids"

She arched an eyebrow and asked “John what are you looking at?”

You blush “Oh um nothing. Nothing, sorry. Was I staring? Pass me the sauce please, Aunt”

Your Aunt chuckles passing the sauce boat “Nothing? You have been watching Jane all evening. It’s the same whenever you come to stay with me. I meant to ask you about it the last time you were here. Does she fascinate you, John? What could keep you engrossed about a maid going about her work? I fail to understand."

Following their meal you sat in the parlor having hot chocolate drinks your Aunt watched your eyes dart to the doorway when Jane entered with her tray and a soft smile grow across your face as you saw her curtsy.

“Something to go with the chocolate Miss.”

Jane left the room and your Aunt stared across at you "So John what is it with the maid? What is it, a penny for your thoughts?”

You laughed “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. It’s ridiculous really.”

In response your Aunt leaned forward in her chair “Now I am even more intrigued. You must tell me, you simply must, John.”

You then leaned forward and spoke in a hushed tone “It’s silly and shameful Aunty. So you mustn’t tell anyone, you really mustn’t. My parents would be distraught if they knew. Promise you won’t say anything.”

Your Aunt of course made her promise to keep what you were going to tell her to herself then listened hiding a smirk whilst her young nephew explained his fascination with the maid.

The control room lady paused her story then asked "So John what is your fascination with the maid?"

You blush then without thinking declare
