This choice: The day after the Forbidden Scroll incident • Go Back...Chapter #4Meeting the Fox and learning about the Rinnegan by: Toothless901   Naruto was exhausted after the fight with Mizuki. It was the most difficult part of the longest day of his life. From failing the exam, to being tricked by Mizuki, to learning the Shadow Clone Jutsu, to learning about the Nine-Tailed Fox, to Iruka saving him, to him saving Iruka, to Iruka giving him his headband… Naruto was just ready for some sleep.
When Naruto opened his eyes. He was not in his bed. He was standing in ankle-deep water. He looked around and saw that he was in a hallway that looked like a sewer, complete with pipes. The pipes were colored blue and red, which confused him. In the distance, Naruto noticed a glowing red light, so he followed the path and approached the light, only to see a giant cage with a paper seal over the lock.
“So… we meet at last… Naruto Uzumaki.” Came a deep voice, as Naruto saw glowing red eyes.
Naruto’s eye adjusted to the space to see a HUGE fox with nine tails behind the cage.
“You’re... the Fox!?” gasped Naruto.
“Not as ignorant as those humans say you are.” smirked the Nine-Tails, “That’s good. This will definitely help as we move forward, kit.”
Naruto got over his surprise rather fast before frowning, “I feel like I should blame you for how I’ve been treated, but that would be pot calling the kettle black. The idiots that can’t tell the difference between a scroll and a Kunai should be punished, but that won’t get me the recognition I want.”
“Yes, you wish to lead these moronic humans,” replied the The Nine-Tails, “Well, kit, you’re in luck.”
“How so?” asked Naruto.
“The Sage of Six Paths has chosen you to be his successor in these lands. He believes you can unite the people of these lands. I find you foolish, but… the Sage has been like a father to me, and I believe in him, so I will give you a chance to prove yourself.”
“I’m Naruto Uzumaki!” declared Naruto, thrusting a finger at the fox, “If I’m going to be Hokage, I’ll need to prove myself over and over again until the people accept me, so you’ll just have to be one of the first, Fox!”
The Nine-Tails smirked, he was already starting to like this kid. Unlike his mother, who kept him locked away, he was willing to give this fox a chance.
“Like I said, the Sage had chosen you as his successor, as such, you will now receive the Rinnegan, the same eyes as him,” explained the fox.
“Really? That sounds awesome! But what abilities does the Rinnegan have?” asked Naruto.
The Nine-Tails then explained how the Rinnegan worked, including acquiring up to six other bodies permanently to hold each path. He also explained that because he was the last of the Male Uzumaki, he would be expected to repopulate his clan as best he could. In turn, his paths would be female bodies.
Naruto contemplated that, because he did wish to have to a family, but creating one for himself sounded like a huge undertaking, but he figured he had years to work on that, alongside his other goal of being Hokage. Speaking of, he would have to tell the old man about this development, if nothing else than to have a guide that could help him adjust and learn Jutsu. He was still called “the Professor” for a reason.
The other thing would be adjusting to controlling multiple bodies at one. He wasn’t opposed to the female body… it’s why he developed the Sexy Jutsu. According to Iruka, who while tired of the pranks, did explain to him how impressive his Jutsu was, since it wasn’t just an illusion, it was a physical transformation. That alone merited a B-Rank, but given the perverted nature of men, the Hokage had risen its Rank to S, and telling Naruto to keep that Jutsu to himself and not teach to anyone.
He did feel a bit guilty about taking innocent people’s lives away, but given his treatment by the girls that morning for a complete accident, his pity well was greatly diminished.
He did ask if he could speak to the fox without coming back into his mindscape, and the Nine-Tails slowly reached his claws through the gate, telling Naruto to grab one. When Naruto did so, Kyuubi pushed a tiny trickle of chakra into him for about a minute before stopping.
“There, Kit. If you wish to speak to me, I will hear you and answer. Otherwise, I will simply observe, unless I deem it necessary,” informed the fox.
The brat was young. Very young compared to him, but the Sage placed his trust in this boy, so the fox would give him a chance, honor his bond with his father figure.
Naruto thanked the fox before leaving, wanting to get some rest for the next day. He would need it now more than ever.
