Looking not to be squashed by the incoming book, you dive into the pencil case. It's one of those types that slides open and shut, so you can't close it from the inside, but you're safe. The textbook bounces off the case, leaving you rattled but intact. Then, Jeremy zips the bag shut, sealing off the only source of light. When he picks up the bag, the moving cloth sides press against the case, sealing it shut. You take a sigh of relief, when suddenly something smashes you in the side of the head. From the feel of it, it must have been the pen, bouncing as Jeremy lifts up his bag. You clutch your throbbing skull, only to be squashed by the eraser landing on top of you. It's not particularly painful, but it knocks the wind out of you. You shove the eraser off, only to bounce back and smack into the back of the case. The bouncing motion of the backpack has turned this pencil case into a death trap. If you could see, you might have been able to avoid the agitated writing implements, but as it stands, you are helpless to evade. A sharp pain burns in your stomach, and you feel nauseous. Feeling your belly, you can tell that you have been stabbed by one of the pencils. You gasp, clutching at the sharp object and pulling it free. You feel wetness around the wound, and you know that you're bleeding. You blindly pull off what remains of your shirt and try to tie it around the wound, but blind and bleeding out you can't manage to tie a good knot. The pen strikes your face again and you pass out, never to wake up again.
