Before CJ could turn the car around and head back to their room for safety, the shrunken brothers suddenly felt the ground shaking again. They looked behind them to see Carlota coming toward them, her gigantic boots ready to crush them at a moment's notice. The shadow of her foot hovering over their puny ride was all they needed to make their choice.
"Forget driving back to our room, CJ! Just get us out of here before Carlota squashes us!" Carl panicked.
"Okay, I'm going!" Not waiting another second, CJ drove them out of their apartment just before Carlota's massive foot landed on the spot they were on.
Carl and CJ sighed in relief having escaped their big sister's crushing feet. They were now in the hall of their apartment floor with no way to get back inside their room now that Carlota shut the door behind them.
"There goes our way in," CJ said, driving through the hall. "What do we do now, Carl? We can't get back to the shrink ray now."
"Chill out, will ya, CJ!" Carl shrugged as he laid comfortably in his seat with his arms under his head. "What's the rush? Let's just keep going and enjoy the ride."
Shrugging it off like he said, CJ continued driving them through the enlarged hallway. They were so small in there that it felt like the hall stretched on forever. Carl and CJ took the time to explore their apartment from their new perspective as they rode through the tall carpet fibers that dwarfed the car by a few inches, marveling at how different and gigantic everything looked at their new size.
"Wow. So this is what the world looks like for bugs." Carl said in astonishment.
"Yeah. It's really cool. Look at all that stuff." CJ said, directing them toward all of the everyday objects that fit into their hands at their original height.
Carl and CJ saw everything look bigger than they normally did. From their new point of view, there was a baseball as big as a planet, a shoe that towered over them, and even a few other minor things like toenail clippings and gumwads that all looked as big as their car if not even bigger.
"Being tiny rocks!" Carl exclaimed. "I wonder what else we can find down here."
"I don't know, Carl. I don't think I like being tiny anymore." CJ retorted.
"What do you mean, CJ?" Carl asked.
"Did you see how BIG Carlota was?" He said, prompting them to grimace from the unpleasant reminder. "We're like little bugs now and Carlota almost squishing us was so scary. What if someone else sees us? They'll be huge and we'll be in danger."
Even though his big brother was right to be worried, Carl was still too vain to listen to him. "Come on, bro. You worry too much. What's the worst that could happen?"
CJ's face curled into an angry glare the moment he said that. And soon enough, Carl's little jinx was about to hit them in the face. Before they knew it, the shrunken duo was met with another resident of their apartment who towered miles above them.
