Carl and CJ drove through the apartment hallway until a new obstacle appeared out of nowhere. The shrunken boys saw another resident of their apartment in front of them and panicked as that person stepped in their path.
"Look out!" Carl yelled, pointing toward the feet of the giant tenant. This prompted CJ to hit the brakes, causing the car to coast to a stop only to hit the back of their shoes. "Whew, that was a close one. At least, we're still safe."
That's what Carl thought, until CJ looked at the person they bumped into and panicked once he recognized who it was. "No we're not, Carl," CJ retorted.
"What makes you say that?" Carl asked as CJ nervously pointed in front of them. He then looked to where CJ was pointing and realized his brother was right. "Oh no!"
"OW! WHO HIT ME?" The boys heard the booming voice of the giant tenant ringing in their ears as she turned around.
To their shock, it was their neighbor and Sid's little sister, Adelaide Chang, and from their new perspective, she didn't look as cute and friendly as she did when they were normal-sized. Carl and CJ stared in horror at Adelaide's towering form, their mouths agape as she turned 180 degrees until her foot stepped in front of them.
*STOMP!*
Adelaide wasn't that much taller than Carl, but now she looked as big as their apartment. Carl and CJ couldn't help but quiver as they looked up at how big and tall Adelaide was. Her head alone was so big that they could barely even see the ceiling past it. They couldn't even make out most of her face either as her head darted back and forth to find what hit her.
"Uh oh. It's Adelaide!" Carl shrieked. "This is bad!"
"I told you it was a bad idea to stay little!" CJ scolded.
"I know, I know! But we don't have time to argue, CJ. Let's move before she sees us." Carl said, nudging CJ to move until he pointed toward the giant 6-year-old again.
"Um, Carl..." Looking ahead, Carl and CJ saw Adelaide looking downward, signaling that their time was up.
Adelaide directed her gaze to the floor and smiled once she noticed the little car in front of her. "Huh? Ooh, a toy car!" she said.
The boys gasped as Adelaide reached her hand down to pick them up. They were about to drive away from her, but it was already too late once Adelaide's hand grabbed the car and pinched it between her fingers from both sides.
"Oh no! She's got us!" Carl panicked.
"Hang on, Carl! Here we go!" CJ shouted as the shrunken boys wrapped their arms around each other and braced themselves for what came next.
With the car held firmly in her grip, Adelaide hoisted it off of the floor and slowly lifted the car up to her eye-level.
"WHOOOOAAAA!" Carl and CJ screamed from the speed of the sudden lift until Adelaide held the car in front of her smiling face.
Carl and CJ panciked even more once they saw Adelaide's huge face past the windshield. There was no way for them to escape with Adelaide's fingers blocking the exits. Plus, they were too scared to try and get her attention, especially with Adelaide holding them right in front of her lips.
"I wonder how this toy car got here. Well, no sense in just leaving it on the floor. I'd better take it home with me." Adelaide said, unknowingly scaring Carl and CJ with the sight of her lips opening and closing to reveal her cavernous maw behind them while her voice boomed in their ears.
Carl and CJ couldn't believe how close they were to Adelaide's enormous mouth. They were just glad to be inside the car where they were safe from it. At least, for now.
"What do we do, bro?!" Carl asked anxiosly. "I don't want to be... Ahhh!" He screamed, taken by surprise once he saw Adelaide's huge eye looking at them through the side window.
"Aww, and there's some little dollies in here too. Hello dollies! Do you want to play with me?! Adelaide said playfully, which was even more discomforting for the shrunken pair.
Carl couldn't stand the idea of Adelaide playing with him like a doll at his size. He got in front of the window and tried to get Adelaide's attention, hoping she'd recognize him being so close to her eye.
"No, Adelaide! I'm not a doll! It's me, Carl! Let me out of here!" Carl begged frantically as he banged on the window. But Adelaide didn't respond to the tiny boy's cries. Even up close, all she saw was a toy so small she didn't even notice him moving.
Carl felt so helpless in her grasp, reduced to a being a toy for her to play and do anything she wanted with while he was powerless to escape her control. He stared at his scared reflection in her pupil until she brought the car away from her eye. "Ha ha ha! Okay, toys! Let's go play!" she giggled, much to their dismay as the cute little girl made her way to her apartment with the car in hand.
"We're doomed, CJ!" Carl panicked as they felt the motions of Adelaide carrying the car shaking them inside it. "Adelaide thinks we're dolls! I'm not a doll, I'd rather be an action figure! What do we do?!"
"Don't panic, Carl. We'll find a way out of this. I hope." CJ said, trying to keep his composure.
Once Adelaide entered her apartment, she went straight to her room more than ready to play with her new toys. She held the car in front of her face again and gave them another taste of what was to come.
"Here we are, dollies!" Adelaide said. "It's play time and I have a lot of fun things planned for us!" Carl and CJ gulped nervously as they saw Adelaide's huge face laughing at them like they really were lifeless toys. Clearly, they weren't going to enjoy the kind of fun she had in store for them.
"But first, let's go for a ride!" With that, Adelaide started racing the car all over her room, blissfully unaware of the ride she was putting the boys through.
"AHHHH!" Fastening their seatbelts, Carl and CJ screamed as Adelaide drove them back and forth every which way in her room. She drove them across the floor, over the walls, and even threw them straight up in the air a few times.
With the car lying sideways on the floor, Carl and CJ felt dizzy and a bit nauseous by the time Adelaide was done with the car ride. But soon enough, the real ride was about to begin.
"Ugh, my head is spinning." Carl groaned dizzily. "Is it over yet?"
"I don't think so, Carl. Incoming!" CJ said as they shook the dizziness off.
*STOMP!*
Carl and CJ panicked as they were hit by another shockwave as Adelaide's large shoe stomped a few inches in front of them, shaking the ground around them until she picked the car up and lifted it up to her face again.
"I hope you enjoyed the ride, dollies. Because now, it's time for the real fun to begin!" With that, Adelaide pulling the driver's seat door open. Once it was open, Carl and CJ exchanged panicked looks before she started shaking the car over its side. The boys were instantly terrified once the car shifted 90 degrees and held their seats for dear life until they lost their grip and fell onto Adelaide's free hand.
Now that they were on Adelaide's open palm, Carl and CJ gaped in terror at the sight of her gigantic head looming over them, her huge smiling lips looking like they conveyed ill intent for the shrunken boys.
"Oh no!" Carl shrieked. "We're doomed!"
With nowhere to go, the boys gave in once Adelaide held Carl in her left hand and CJ in her right, with only their heads sticking out of her fists. The boys hoped Adelaide would be able to recognize them at their diminished size, but they were to scared to get her to recognize them as Adelaide lifted them up to her enormous head.
"Hello, little dollies!" Adelaide said cheerfully, her thunderous laughter shaking them to their cores. "You look so cute! Now it's time to play!"
Carl and CJ struggled fruitlessly to break out of Adelaide's grip until she placed them on her tea party table. "Now you just wait here, dollies. I'll be right back." Adelaide said.
With her back turned, the boys took their chance to make their escape. "This is our chance, CJ. Let's move while she's not looking." Carl said.
"Too late!" CJ said. Unfortunately, the table was too high up for them to go anywhere, and Adelaide already came back with a small box.
"Okay, boys. Let's get you dressed for our tea party." Seeing the box entitled 'Doll Clothes' in front of them, Carl and CJ gulped nervously as Adelaide made things even more unbearable for them.
Seeing no point in resisting her, Carl and CJ reluctantly gave in to Adelaide's whims and played along with her games. They felt utterly humiliated as they joined Adelaide's tea party, even more so once she dressed them up in frilly doll dresses. And if the dresses weren't bad enough, the boys were forced to face more indignity as Adelaide played even more games with them.
Carl grimaced bitterly as Adelaide had him play kissy face with CJ. "Mwa! Mwa! Mwa! We love each other so much!"
"I hate this." Carl grumbled in a whisper.
"Just play along until we get our chance." CJ whispered back.
Soon enough, Adelaide played everything she could think of with them. Carl and CJ were subjected to playing house, riding in Adelaide's toy sports car, getting rib-crushing hugs from Adelaide, and even make-overs that put them through the ringer.
Carl and CJ couldn't take much more of it, but they had to stay cool if they wanted a break. Sooner or later, Adelaide would have to notice it was them. The humiliation continued until Adelaide played tea party with them. Their only hope now was for something to happen that could save them from being Adelaide's playthings.
