This choice: Six month time skip.(reserved) • Go Back... For the past 6 months your days toiling away with Dianne on this high profile case have gone mostly smoothly, in fact the whole office has become impressed with you. Dianne for one, after months working together you truly sees the skill, intellect and talent you have for this job. The two of you have become close friends in-fact while still keeping things personal, the Senior partner of your law firm respects your input while also enjoying your company. After long days of dealing with the annoying logistics of representing a Hollywood starlet you both grab a bite to eat at the local Chinese place or catch of dumb movie you can turn your brains off..though after the several times women have assumed the seat you occupied was empty and proceeded to take it you both opt to simply streaming from either the office or even her personal apartment.
The other partners have even warmed up to you, Olivia who at first you believe saw you as a cute token hire has also learned to see you as a potentially future heavy hitter for the firm, you have seen her shallow flirty façade fade more then once when you two talked about the nitty and gritty matters of this important case. Her reluctance to let you help Dianne at the helm of something that could truly damage the firm faded in these months. Mia...was a harder nut to crack. It took nearly four months of working under the same roof but one day when both Olivia was away on her own case and Dianne was sick you two were forced to work together. She would never admit it out loud but after working together for that week she no longer protests openly about the fact you are so close on this case. She also has not warmed up to you in the slightest but you take what you get.
Isabella the fellow intern that was hired the same day as you is still on good terms. You were afraid that because of the unorthodox way things have been going on that she would be jealous on how fast things went for you, when you asked her about this one day during lunch she laughed it off.
"Jealous, Jesus Anthony you could not pay me money to switch with you," she said wiping a tear from her eye. "I mean were interns and we haven't even been here half a year you know, getting lunch and coffee, sorting through mail and taking messages these are normal things expected of us." She said her eyes narrowing in amused stare at you.
"But oh no, that's not good enough for Anthony here." She declared dramatically. "Not only are you one of the first tiny who earned an internship in the legal field you also got put on the task force of the one of the biggest cases in the country!" She said laughing even harder.
"Dude I still get nervous when I write down the names for messages, so it's all good you have your big case."
As the two of you laughed it off you like how less nervous and relaxed Isabella has gotten over the months and she was right your case was the strange one.
Yes nearly the whole office of women learned your name and how to look out for you, they even built little walkways that hugged the walls so you could travel the office without an escort. Yes everyone loved you here...save for one bully from highschool.
Rebecca could not stand your ascension, she was what you feared Isabella would be green with envy and seething red with rage. After all she was the all star rookie before you showed up and the only reason she was excited that you were joining was because she assumed you would have become the office squeaky toy in the first week, not the hot shot intern that was stealing her lighting. So for the first couple of months the two of you clashed, though "classed" is generous for you seeing how one-sided these were. She would purposely walk down you walkways turning into chewed gum under her shoes, plop down texts and binders on top of you and not tell anyone and even tried to flush you down the toilet. The thing was you were so instrumental with the Britney Brood case(the biggest case the firm has ever taken) that all these "misunderstandings" and "accidents" were annoying the partners. After they had to hire a plumper to retrieve you from the toilet incident Mia who saw Rebeca as her protégé gave her a chewing out.
"If this case is halted for even a second more it will take less time for me right you off and kick out these doors!"
You heard that from Dianne's office and you could not help but snicker. After that Rebeca was not given any cases herself and was regulated to simple tasks that an intern was trusted with. You were scared what she might do if she snapped one of these days.
But now was the day of the Case Management Conference which meant you and all three partners along with Isabella to help with notes and of course Britney Brood herself were sitting in the conference room of the city waiting for the opposition to show up.
"Jeez this is taking so long!" Your client who was nearly twenty years older then your mother was pouting like a school girl, this of course did not faze you or the partners. Working with the starlet for half a year you all have grown numb to her child like tantrums.
"At least you could have let me bring Penny..Penny's fun." She sighed louder then necessary. Without turning you knew Dianne was about to speak.
"Ms. Brood please trust us we also have no wish to remain with you longer then needed." Dianne said in her cold monotone way of dealing with those she deem..disappointing. Annoyed the starlet rolled her eyes, then met yours and her face grew a gruesome smile.
"Well I am in good hands, after all "The Traitor to all Tinies" himself is helping me!" She broke into a cruel laugh using the moniker that the papers have used to refer to you after Miles Jacob coined the name in a rally when talking about the case. To say it did not sting would be lying. But you too have grown in these past months.
"I can't speak for all tinies I doubt anyone can but in regarding Mr. Wilson and this case the reason he is guilty is not because he is a tiny, it's because he lacked the due diligence all tinies should have." You stated calmly, your logic had holes in it too but you are a lawyer and a contract is a contract.
"I was not aware you were such an advocate for Bakers Law my little lawyer, you know after this annoying trial is done with you should really come over to my place...I could help you find your real purpose." At the end of her typical suggestion she opened her legs wide in her mini skirt giving the whole room a good idea what kind of "purpose" she thought you would be more suited for. Before anyone could retort her though the door's opened and two woman enter.
The first was a familiar tall blond bombshell that you have seen on the paper and news quite a lot and just like their she was holding a tiny well dressed man on her right palm. These were the Jacob's, Miles and his wife Ophelia. She gently took her seat while slowly lowering her husband till her jumped off her palm, he dusted of his suit and made sure he was presentable. Before taking his tiny prepared seat he shot you a disappointed glare.
The other woman was a blond you never saw before, she wore a cheap women's suit but with half the buttons of her white under blouse undone, giving the room more than an eye-full of her sweaty mounds of chest fat. She took the seat next to the political power couple, her exposed chest making a visual bounce as she settled. With out saying a word she grabbed a necklace around her neck that seemed to be burred in her cleavage, with a tug she took it off and shocking you and the Jacobs you saw a flattened Brian Wilson attached.
"Sorry for our tardiness, but we will like to dive right into it." The woman that was obviously the public defendant assigned to Mr. Wilson said in an uncaring bored tone. The reason why someone like Brian Wilson only had a public defender assigned by the court was because currently his vast wealth was frozen. His status of being a man or object was the point of the trial after all so the bank is in a tricky position, they froze his assets and if Mr. Wilson proves himself a man they will be given back.
Without waiting for her client to reform the public defense attorney carried on with the meeting like nothing was out of the ordinary.
"So I have seen the plea-deal the good folks at M.A.R have given us and I speaking for my client think it's a fair-"
"Hold on for on minute!" The outburst came from the tiny politician enraged that this "lawyer" was not even waiting for her client to properly reform and allow to speak his opinion.
"Lets wait for the man himself to say what's on his mind."
The woman that was appointed to defend Mr. Wilson gave Miles a cold uncaring stare before sighing and looking bored.
"We do need to wait for the judge anyhow people."
This came from Dianne and she was right, the problem was which judge were you gonna get. Because of the political heat of this case it was hard keeping a judge who wanted to see it through. The last time you investigated it it was down to four possibilities.
1. Stacy Creed, a pro Baker judge in her thirties who is known for her bias takes on trials like these and overly cruel punishments for tinies who "waste court time", according to her all tinies should be with an owner by now so tax payer money wouldn't be wasted. Probably would favor your side in the trial but may not like you either.
2. Roger Hammer, an outspoken judge that advocates for true tiny rights tries to save as many tiny victims he can. Would be the worse judge for you to get.
3. Georgia Bloom, a neutral judge who truly believes in the law and the system, has no bias on any side and would be the fairest judge to get.
4. Victor Woodhouse, a wild card judge with a strange record. He is a tiny but also an true believer in Bakers Law to the point that he has a owner who wears him in the court room. It is hard to put where he stands because sometimes he gives tiny defendants a fair shot and other times he is completely bias. A colorful character for sure. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
