This choice: Finished it. Wait for Raid • Go Back...Chapter #61st Raid of ULTRA SEX WEED PALACE by: Markus I felt two people entering the Dungeon. Thanks to my Domain, I pick up the intruders talking and chatting just before they explore more of the the dungeon (I just realized I could've heard that previous party coming in as well, damn it). I've already added the monsters through their post, now let's see how they fare.
"So... This is the Newborn Dungeon? Pretty long from here, did he report the dungeon had a maze?" One dude in all black garment asked the other, who had scars on his hands.
"It must've had a Growspurth, those adventurers wouldn't lie to the Guildmaster." He answered, "It doesn't matter though, as long as we be careful, we can destroy the core fast enough before dinner."
Wait what? I thought they don't want to destroy the core?! Unless.
"Who in the 12 Gods would pay us 100 Platinum Gil to destroy a Newborn Dungeon? Growspurth and all, this feels like a trap if anything."
"I'll give you a hint. Church."
"The Holy God Church? Not surprising. But it can't be that Prav guy right? He's to close to that Scholar... Was it Priestess Amun?" The guy snaps his hands, there was a tattoo of a crow covering the palm.
"Well aren't you smart?" The other dude says, as he chuckled and continue to move into the Dungeon with the Crow Tattoo Palm guy. "She can hide herself, cast a bunch of illusion all she can. But I knew a nasty bitch when I see one. She reeks of New Money."
"Spoiled? Wouldn't have guessed after she sat with her followers and block of a Dungeon entrance one time." He scoffs, "They didn't even send one guy to blow up the Core while she distract causing commotion. Stupid."
"That's why we, The Crows Merc, do the job the rich couldn't by themselves and get a big payday out of it." He used his thumb to point at him. And they continue walking through the maze laughing their ass off.
So this Amun girl hired some Mercenaries to destroy me? Oh we'll see about that...
***
The Crows Merc, who I later found out is name Hum, the one with the scars and Pecker who had the tattoo, continue their track through the seemingly long and endless maze.
"Man this maze is really long. There's not even any monsters."
And that's my que to jinx them, I call upon the A-1 Sirens inside the walls to start singing.
"Man, if anything, that is a blessing in disguise, be glad we don't have to-"
The Crow Mercs halted as they hear an angelic singing rendition of The Caretaker plays throughout the dungeon. While there's no visible signs of them being affected, they were still on guard as they brandished their swords and daggers.
"Is that... Siren's Song?" Pecker asked.
"This isn't a Water-themed dungeon... And the Sirens should've look at us first. Even if this was Siren's Song it's... Not even alluring. Just strange and odd."
"Tunes catchy though."
"Let's... Keep going, be on guard."
***
"Hey, Hum! Look, a slime." Pecker pointed to my Slime. It's currently cleaning a corner of the area. "It looks kind of weird, too clear to be a normal slime."
"A new variant I'd guess. Probably unique to this dungeon."
"Should we kill it?" He ask, but Hum takes a closer look at the Slime, it was suckibg up the dirt into it's inside and purifying them. He conjured this spellcircle on his left eye and peered closer to my monster as if he's analyzing it.
"Huh, this guy isn't a combatant at all. Just some cleaner for the dungeon." Hum said.
"A cleaner huh? Hey! Can we tame it? We could probably use it to clean the house, make it neater y'know." Pecker said.
"I don't have that skill. And we're destroying this dungeon anyway. Those monsters would just disintegrate."
"Aww..."
***
Hum begins to stroke his chin, "So we have Sirens singing somewhere around here. And those cleaner slimes too..."
"Kind of weird we've only seen two weird ass monsters and they don't come at us to fight. And those Sirens' been singing this weird song."
"Must be another variant. As for why they sing it... I don't know if it's something to pass their time or some skill we haven't seen yet."
"Well whatever. I'm marking this wall in case we're fleeing."
"Trail Mix, already dropped and ready to be followed. This seems a good time as any to camp for the night."
27 minutes in and they've decided to camp through the night in the dungeon, and so far the Siren's abilities hasn't affected them yet. I wonder if this is a normal thing for the locals here...
Now, let's see how the Siren's Skill affected them.
***
"Well? Did you or did you not sprinkle the trail mix?" Hum asked Pecker, who looked like he woke up from the wrong side of the bed.
"I... I dunno, the floor shouldn't be clean but... Maybe? Maybe not?" Pecker scratched his head, "Hey. Was the wall... I think there shouldn't be an entranced there." He points to a random section of the wall that my Dungeon Skill had shifted. But as Hum looker I knew he didn't find it familiar.
"Well there is, see?"
"You sure? Where exactly did we went into the room?"
"...I, I'm not sure. Wait hold on I think I... Oh, nevermind no marks here."
Thank you Roomba Slimes and Shift.
"Huh, maybe I... Y'know what, let's, just move on. We need to destroy the Core quickly."
It looks like my setup was perfect. Their memories were erased, the maze's shift allows their markings to be removed by the cleaning slimes when they least expect it. All seems to go well with how I imagined it.
Too well actually...
Because for the next few days, they've been repeating the same situation, same dialogue and the same talk of confusion and uncertainty over what they thought they did and what they see. And only I know what they're actually are.
This leads to the two Mercs gone all quiet, either contemplating what is actually happening to them, when Hum begins to drop more of those trail mix and finally felt it empty.
Then it got worse.
"It's empty... It's not supposed to be empty." Hum begins to panic, "Something is wrong, something is definitely fucking wrong."
"I, I feel like I marked it. But it's not there. What the fuck is wrong with me?! I haven't mark this, but why do I feel I have. It's so confusing!!"
They continue to ramble maddly before the Siren's Caretaker Lullaby activates again, and they seem to go quiet. Before moving on suddenly.
It's kind of creepy, I feel like they're just waiting to explode.
I was proven right when they took the trail mix and saw it empty, unphazed, Hum begins taking out his pocket knife and slash his palm with blood. Dripping it all over the camp and hallways and causing panic to his partner Pecker.
"W-w-what are you doing?! By Gaia's will why did you do that?!"
"...It felt right." Was all Hum could say.
I... What?
This wasn't something that I saw before, people doing irrational things due to memory erased. Maybe this has something to do with their senses? I am technically fighting against some very talented folks from the DP production alone, granted not as much as the four man group but it's enough to payback the whole cost of the plan and more. They might have some keen senses to know something is wrong.
Plus I was able to get the blood and trail mix, not the type of resource I'd use all that much but I'm sure it has one day.
Going back to the Mercs, they seem more unhinged the longer they stay here. Their body language says they look irrational, worried, struggling to remember things that they think don't exist.
Especially as more time went on and they continue to forget more and more of their exploration, not realizing the newly shifted layout.
I set it up so they'd just circle back to the entrance. By the next day, they'll just leave and tell everyone to not fuck around in my dungeon. At least that way they can calm down and get a fresh breath of air.

By the time I had woken up for a new day, the two Mercs died, throat slashed at each other while they try to cover it.
They attacked each other, and died together next to one another.
What the fuck?
What the absolute fuck?!
How the heck did they...WHY did they?!
Shit. I need to know, is there something I can... Dungeon Skill: Oracle, allows me to... Basically a Camera System, I don't care about the price, purchase and use.
What I saw was... Beyond heartbreaking, Hum had gone mad. He knows something is wrong and lashed out, trying to mark as many walls and floors as possible so they know what's going on.
Pecker was mortified and tried to stop him from hurting himself so he can be marked, they had a fight, swords and blades were unsheath and by then it was too late. They killed one another in battle.
And I caused it?
The Siren's abilities shouldn't made someone that insane? Should it?
Was it the stress of the dungeon? Barely anything at all to fight, or the constant shift and forgetting something?!
What the fuck?! I can't understand it. Shit.
I was supposed to be a peacefull dungeon, causing harm to those who hurt my core, I never designed the Dungeon to be a torture room.
I... Had thoughts about it before, that it'll lead to something like this but... I never thought it real.
Why am I even frustrated by this, I'm no longer human.
...Well, I still have human feelings. I feel empathy for these guys regardless of before.
I buried the Mercs, put them in coffins next to me. And pray their next life be better.
At least I know what to fix and improve.
...Where do I go from here? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
