Chapter #4

3) Luna Solaris

Luna was beginning zir journey through Ultra Space. While normally people required Solgaleo or Lunala to do so, the Ultra Recon Squad had developed the brand new Ultra Cycles so that was no longer necessary. The almost completely back transport would allow ease of movement across both land and void.

Laying almost on zir stomach, ze was impressed at how comfortable the machine was despite it only being a prototype. Ze didn't feel like the new transport was moving at all, despite seeing holes flying past so quick that ze almost couldn't avoid them in time.

Ze didn't have time to test its top speed as a white hole emerged surprisingly fast. Just like how avoiding the other portals was difficult, Luna almost missed the one ze was looking for.

Getting off the cycle, and ensuring that it was properly shut down to prevent theft, the first thing that went through zir mind was to call out Poipole. The Ultra Beast that Rhi bestowed zir.

As ze breathed in the air of this new world, there was an immediate difference in the air quality. It smelt and tasted rich. Clean. Perhaps it was because Ultra Megalopolis was a massive city, or because this world was brimming with light while zir home barely had any. However, more information would be needed before ze could know for certain.

Luna pulled out zir Beastium. Another device which the Ultra Recon Squad had designed, based off this world's 'Pokédex.' With it, ze would be able to determine which creature where (as this world called them) Starter Pokémon. Without such a device, it would be impossible to determine which ones ze wanted to study, as there were nearly a thousand. This number shocked Luna at first, as there were only a handful of recorded Ultra Beasts.

Noticing Poipole flying around, shooting its purple poison in joy, ze almost didn't want to spoil its fun. Ze wanted to fun through the grass, breath in the air, swim through the water. Overall just bask kn the light of this world. But they didn't arrive for fun. So, with a heavy heart, Luna called out to zir partner.

"Come, Poipole. We can enjoy ourselves later."

Despite expecting the Beast to become upset, it actually obeyed with a smile on its face. It was possible nothing could damper its mood right now.

Opening the Beastium, the cyan device opened with the top half stopping at a perfect 90 degree angle. What looked like a black screen also broke in half, each moving to another 90 degrees.

With the device now open, Luna said "Mission Critical Pokémon." To which, a number of creatures appeared as 3D holographic displays.

"Mission Critical Pokémon." the device repeated before highlighting all the red creatures while the others became monochrome. "Fire Types. Ability: Blaze." The highlighted Pokémon then turned monochrome and it highlighted all the blue ones. "Water Types. Ability: Torrent." It then repeated the action to highlight the green ones. "Grass Types: Ability: Overgrow."

Luna thought that was all ze needed to know, before it then continued with them all in monochrome.

"Alert: Abilties, not certain. Further study required to ensure the Ability is guaranteed."

Ze held back a sigh. This was a new world with new creature and new challenges. Ze should have known the mission wouldn't have been as easy as simply finding them. Sighing wouldn't help zir circumstance, nor aid in finding the Starters.

Just as ze was about to start searching, Poipole was playing in the grass. At least, ze thought it was before it came back holding a pokéflute, if that was the right word. Regardless, Luna decided to keep the item. Perhaps learning to play it could be relaxing.
