A great read. World War I was supposedly the war to end all wars. But then of course we had World War II. This should have been the end but now, fast forward to Syria. And the beat goes on. As Plato said "only the dead have seen the end of war. " wishing you a blessed holiday, George

Very touching. Written straight from the heart. It made me misty, thinking about my own dad who died so many years ago. Thanks for sharing. George Dixon

Very nicely written. I didn't spot any big mistakes or any mistakes for that matter. I think that you should consider enlarging this into a novella or a novel. Keep on writing best regards George Dixon

Very touching. I think in the last line it would be more effective to say "I am safe." Keep up the good work!

What a great poem! I loved it, and I can honestly say that I'm not partial to poems without rhymes (although your poem's rhythm leaves no room for criticism). Thanks for sharing this mystical insight into your creative processes. By the way, I received your feedback on "The Potter's Wheel" and belatedly thank you for the kind words. I'm able to get on a computer with access to WDC only rarely. Best to you, George Dixon.

A lovely little piece of whimsy. I love pieces where, for example, a wild bird loses its fear of a human of pure heart. I hope the man got the job. He and his fellows who served their country deserve the best we can give to them. During the recent D-Day ceremonies, I must have lifted my arm more than a dozen times to all of the vets, old and not so old, who served Lady Liberty. Thanks for sharing. George.

Although I'm not a scifi fan, I found the piece very entertaining. You write well. I think you could have a future in writing if you want it. As they say here on WDC, Write On! Best regards, G.R.Dixon.

A beautiful account of an extraordinary experience. The only possible error I found was in line 7, which perhaps should read "I said thank you for your service to your country". It was a wonderful impulse that caused you to approach two "strangers" and to proffer your hand. Thanks for sharing the event with us. George (GR) Dixon.

Review of Acts of Love
Review by grdixon

I certainly agree with the message in your poem, and found it a good read besides. As for celebrating our love for a particular person on a special day, I see nothing wrong with that. (But you're right in guessing that the card companies make lots of money on such occasions. They think nothing of charging upwards of $5 for a piece of heavy stock paper with a few sentiments imprinted on it.) Still, I know my wife of nearly 50 years has enjoyed the mother's day cards she's received over the years from our kids, and the valentines (from me of course). In my opinion, a person should never miss the opportunity to give those who love her a special hug on days dedicated to their gratitude and affection for him/her.

Fabulous! Hang onto that girl! It looks like you've found pure gold. From sunrise to sunset, and I suspect from sunset to sunrise, she is the girl of your dreams. Thanks for sharing. George Dixon.

Being a dog lover, I enjoyed your story. I especially enjoyed how Tidbit dropped food down from the table to floor-bound Dusty in the process of "cleaning up" after Thanksgiving dinner. Dogs are marvelous creatures. Sadly, it's our lot to lose one or more of them during our own, longer lifespans. My most emphatic comment on your writing is that the piece seems to have an overabundance of commas. Also, in the last sentence I think that it would read better if the word "told" is deleted. Thanks for sharing! Yours in writing, George Dixon.

This poem definitely strikes a chord. The pathos comes through and has been captured in words to the extent that I felt your pain and sense of abandonment. My hunch, scanning the other items in your portfolio, is that time is healing the hurt. I hope that is the case. Good luck. It's become a cliche, to be sure, but the truth is that "The Sun'll come out tomorrow." Best wishes, George Dixon.

An instructive piece for those who haven't been called to deal with Autism. And the ending is beautiful. Braxten is a lucky little man to have such an understanding granny. I must confess that I worry about what will become of him when granny can no longer care for him. One of our pet charities is Rainbow Acres, whose mission can be read about via Google (Internet). As for the article, I find it very well written and highly readable. I hope that writing it eased some of the frustrations you must inevitably feel at times. Best luck to you and your little guy. George Dixon.

Thankyou for the article on Kiribati and its surrounding islands. It is good information to know if a person anticipates
traveling to this archipelago. Your article is well written and entertaining. Your English is very good for a
nonl-native speaker. Best wishes in your liffle slice of paradise, George Dioxon.

I totally believe in guardian angels. I've been pulled through some very scary episodes. I liked your piece, but feel you probably didn't quite get it right when you wrote "By the time he went back outside and shot at passing cars, and the gun fired."
Best regards, George.

A beautiful story, and having had a pet Angus steer, I know that it's true. It's unusual for a mature bull to be sufficiently good natured as not to require a ring in his nose. He was indeed Bandit's pal, and yours too. I'm betting you took Bandit along, if he was still alive, when you moved away from the country. Whatever became of Sundance? Thanks for a great read. George Dixon.
