Here we have a man who as had his share of painful relationships. There is even someone pouring salt on the wound. So what does he do? He tries to be careful and protect his heart from the pain again. He isn't to sure how to go about it until a certain lady comes along. She really loves him and has captured his heart. She won't allow any hurt to come his way again. She has become his loving shield for his heart.
A good lesson for all of us. Love is out there and never give up.

Oh don't we all dream of a lazy day. That wonderful day when we have nothing to do but nothing. Laying around, catching a nap. Forgetting all the work worries and traffic traps. Sometimes it seem when we plan for those days, something always gets in our way. In this case our character gets things the way she wants them. Lucky her.

Now, taking on a big Maple tree is a challenge in itself. A man is determined to remove it because of it's health. It has lost its beauty. Well, he takes down some limbs and then neighbors and firemen get involved to help. This was a neighborhood party without the party. Everyone getting involved. The most encouraging part of all is that people offered help instead of ignoring the man. A real community atmosphere is refreshing.

Our author has brought a reminder that we should show our love now. Time is ever fleeting and uncertain. Don't let time go by without sharing love with those you love and don't wait until they pass. As the piece suggests; if love is given in life that's when it really counts.
Roses, flowers, hugs, thank yous, a phone call, a visit to catch up with each other and prayers together; show those loving feelings to those you love. Most of all tell them how much they mean to you as often as possible. We never know what tomorrow might bring.

A relationship turns sour over time. There are so many hurtful things done to our character. Yelling for one thing. Mean as a hornet. Selfish to the core. Hateful beyond belief. So how long can a person hold on without completely loosing themselves in the wake. Finally it's over, ended. Just getting out is all that matters now.

She was busy but made time for her friend. Trust is so necessary in a relationship. Taking a friend at their word is second nature. Here we have a friend taking advantage of our character. Sadly, she offers the help asked for. Then she finds out she was lied to and used to do something terribly wrong.
That's not friendship; that's being used for personal gain.

This was the day she would find unconditional love. She decides he is the one and he is so glad. She picked him up and he was filled with joy. Already bonding, these two, and next is the trip home.

The piece feels as though it might have been a rescue dog. Bless those that open their hearts to these little animals. All they want is love and have so much love to give in return.

She loved him and was enchanted by his eyes.
She saw the very stars inside them. She wasn't expecting those stars to be only illusions. Perhaps they were wishful thinking. Now, she is alone and regrets the time invested and the feelings she had for him. She wanted truth and compassion. She wanted love and hoped it would last. Instead she ended up alone and broken like a piece of fragile glass. Who will pick up the pieces now. Do those pieces sparkle like his eyes did or do they reveal the dull essence of the man of betrayal.

This piece is about a person who hides behind a smile. There are many things troubling her but yet she won't let is show. It's not easy to pull this off for a long time.
In a quiet moment, if a tear should fall, there would be someone asking why. So you go on and on pretending things are well. Years pass by and sooner or later, they will come out.

Here we have a grandfather and granddaughter spending time together. She is leaving soon for the St Patty's Day parade and wants a story first. He is a Leprechaun and as such is a shoemaker, wears a apron, smokes a pipe etc. He puts aside the legends for her. The gold at the end of the rainbow isn't true. He keeps his money in the bank. He is a mischief maker though and tells her a funny yarn. She listens as he sits in his chair. The ending came as a surprise but was funny and clever.

The character exchange sounded believable.
The font color is perfect for this piece.
A lighthearted piece.

We have a man looking at the heavens and knowing that changes are inevitable. We know there is enough power in the universe to completely cause extinction. Still the sun shines and clouds form, proving each day is different. The sun sets and the moon shines and we think those are certainties. There are no certainties because there is always change. Just as our bodies change. We can't hold on to life since it isn't permanent. We go along and forget that sometime. Maybe even taking our time here for granted. There will come a day for that final change/death. Basically, if you can find a way to live in this moment, cherish this moment, love this moment since it is all we really have. It is a mindset that brings you happiness. We all have heard that saying 'I AM HAPPY TO BE ALIVE'. Keep that in mind when the new dawn comes. Welcome it.

It's late and she overhears them talking. They have a fancy home. Perhaps 2 stories. She waits in the hallway near the dumb waiter. They mention her friends name Melissa.

Right then, she decides to go to the police. She hears someone coming toward the hall door. She jumps in the dumb waiter and her scarf gets caught in the closing door. The guy grabs the scarf and knows who was listening.

So now she is in danger and has to make it to her car. Through the yard she goes but stumbles. She can hear him coming after her. She reaches her car but fumbles with the keys. He is getting closer. She is able to jump in the drivers seat and start up the car.

Turning on the light, she sees the front of the home. There is Melissa being held by the other guy. She is all bloody and crying.

She backs up the car as fast as she can until she reaches the end of the driveway. Now it's a race to the bridge. She sees in her rear view mirror a car coming and she knows it is one of them. Nearing the bridge, she sees the water. The guy is right on her tail, bumps her and her car goes of the road into the water.

She has some air in the top of the hood so she floats in it for a while. Soon she is swimming for land. Where can she go? Where can she hide? What about her friend? Will they kill Melissa?

One of the most favorite stories of childhood was Cinderella. She had a fairy godmother and a prince and glass slippers. From the moment they danced her life became magic in storybook land.

Well, this piece shows her as a slave in the cellar without food. Rats are eating her sore foot. Cinderella's life was not magic.

There has been a breakup. There is always one left behind to try to pick up the piece. The hardest part of all is not understanding how or why this happened. So many tears and questions. There is plenty of heartbreak to last forever; it seems. Then, instead of getting angry at being tossed aside, we find ourselves trying to figure out what WE did wrong. Put the blame where it belongs and don't beat yourself up.

I believe our character has been lonely for a while because of past hurt.
A new person comes along and to the characters surprise there is an immediate connection. There is laughter, a bit of hope, maybe even something more.
Only time will tell. There is always a gamble to a relationship. Some just start out being friends; then who knows?
A mixed bag of emotions running about with no certainty or answers available.

This piece feels to this reader as if an adult child is finally leaving home. At first the time away might be short. Then more time and distance. There may be some indecision from the child and decides to stay a while longer. Finally it's time. It's hard but like the last line expresses; the child will always come home again.
It's never really goodbye for a parent and child; they will always need each other.

I remember, too well, this type of thought process in those days. It continued for a long time. In the small town I lived in it was cut in 2. My boys had friends, no matter who, but when school let out, some went one way and the others went the other. No after school playing. No get together at the park. No touch football games in the streets. My youngest son didn't understand about race and it made him sad to have to say goodbye to his friends everyday.
Like you, I hope our children never have to be separated again.

He was after a sacred stone.
An adventurer searching and searching. Going by tales told and myths of old. Time passed and he found clues and then a vision of sorts. This vision led him to his journeys end. He followed as if in a trance and found what he was seeking. To be immortal sounded good but little did he know there was a catch. A stone, with powers, still guided by the goddess. From the moment he found it everything changed. Aware of the deceit but unable to escape.
Thank you for sharing.
Love the picture.

Our author brings Jane Austen to life in this piece. The character is doing an interview with Jane and asks her questions about her characters and whether they were from life.
Jane explained she like to match people and create a love between them in her story. She, herself, desires that same thing to happen to her. Her sisters were inspirations for her characters and her mother influenced her as well. By the time the interview was over they were on a first name basis and called each other friend.

The pictures added well to the piece.
An interesting piece indeed.

Some times life can make us weary. Things seem so hard and we just become tired of all the hassle and disappointment. We think to ourselves how much longer. All the years of falling and then getting up makes us discouraged. This character is anxious for death. The end of all this torment. Then as the years go by and she nears the end; she has a change of heart. It's coming; what she had hoped for. Deep inside, she probably is sad she wished her life away.
Thank you for sharing this emotional and complex issue.

The war was like the wind. It might have been in different country but it was part of our daily life here in America. The beginning of the piece shows how wind/war leaves a path in it's wake. Destruction, lives, blood and yet the wind still goes on. Years were invested, lives were taken, families were broken, not just there but here as well.
As the war progressed more evidence was seen. The wind carried the smell of death even across a vast ocean. At the end of the piece we picture a young woman who received one of those letters about her loved on as a casualty. She stands there, the wind blowing as it always has.
The war is like the wind. There was no way to control it or stop it's devastation. Those in charge were to blind to see.

Every night on the evening news there would be a death tally mentioned.

The answer to the wind/war is peace but it is only short lived before another conflict starts. Our sons and daughters are not expendable. They were treated horribly when they came home; even spit on. Even told to remove their uniforms before departing the plane once at A US AIRPORT.

Thank you for sharing.
The imagery was very good.
It is important for some to know that this war was not a distance occurrence but so very close to home. There was constant unrest in our country.

Here we have a couple dancing in the moonlight. How many of us can relate to that? There is magic everywhere and the man in the moon must surely be smiling down upon them. Maybe even dropping some stardust to add a little more magic. So it's raining, that just makes it more necessary for a great big hug or several hugs. Perhaps a kiss or two as well.
Love can be so wonderful when moments like this exist.

The piece is about feeling incomplete without your mate. There are three instances where another part is important. A cup, light bulb and a lonely sock. All these things are reasonable examples to ponder upon. Most of all being without the one you love makes you feel incomplete. Like half of your heart is missing. The comfort of having someone to hold on to and make the world go away{like that old song} It's funny how songs seem to get it right. Isn't it?

Our author takes us through autumn. The various colors are magical. The crisp air is so welcoming. The pumpkins are the center of attention. Then finally the leaves begin to be crunchy as you walk along. Winter indeed is coming and before long will bring the reason for the season.
So as we wait upon winter; enjoy the magic tapestry of God and how each season has it's own beauty.

Like so many woman of the last generation; she was thought of as a housewife and stayed in her roll. As she began to think about life and things going on around her; she began to write. The piece mentions she might have felt as though she was on a roller coaster. Up and down the different aspects of her life and trying to write was the biggest fall down the rails of the coaster. She was nervous and wondered what others at the end of the ride would think about her work. So she read her work to her daughter. Finding her daughter enjoying them and a bit fascinated by how well her mother wrote; that made her mother feel a new feeling. Instead of just a lady that goes shopping, or cooks and washes clothes, she has something special about her and there is so much more to discover.
Til this day our character clings to those writings of her mother. Wouldn't you?

Thank you for sharing a nice tribute to a mom.
