War Chest Wednesday...

You're at a party for your work. You don't know many people since you have only been there for a month. Are you the aggressor in trying to meet people, or do you draw people to you? Explain.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I do a bit of both, I think. I don't mind going up to someone and introducing myself. The drawing people in kind of works out by itself. I guess that's because I don't mind hard work, and try to be mainly upbeat and have a good sense of humor.

There are times that I can be a bit of a downer, but that is usually when I am sick or just plain not feeling well. But the rest of the time, watch out! I am a go-getter, a go-to, and don't mind helping whether it be ideas or grunt work.

I mean, give me something fun to do, and I'm off to the races. To be honest, my portfolio is just such an example. I don't mind trying new things, and I don't mind getting reviews that "hurt". How else can I grow as a writer? But if you look, I started here on Sept. 4th of this year...and I am having the best time of my life. Doesn't mean there aren't sucky days, but on the whole, I'm flying *Smile*

So there you have it. I can be "out there" with a handshake, but afterwards, people tend to gravitate to me. And to be honest, I like it like that *Smile*

Talk Tuesday! How has your fashion sense changed in the last five, ten, or twenty years?
-----------------------------

LOL...This is probably one of the things I worry about the least. I don't dress for fashion sense, I dress for comfort. Always have, always will. I can drag something out of the closet, I suppose, if I needed to dress up - say for my daughter's wedding. I can even manage a bit of makeup on occasion. But if I have a pair of jeans, or sweat pants and a comfy t-shirt or top, then I am right at home.

Oh, sure, the sizes have changed some over the years (let's NOT talk about it...*Facepalm*, but the style hasn't changed all that much for me. I'm still the laid-back type of gal I've always been.
Even now, I'm wearing a SOFT KITTY t-shirt (ref: Big Bang Theory) and a pair of gray sweatpants. Comfy, and if I want to go back to bed for a bit, there you have it. If I stay up, I'll shower and change into another t-shirt and maybe some pajama pants, since I don't have to be anywhere today *Smile*.

Just a plain-Jane gal.

Music Monday! Write an entry from the perspective of the main character of a song...but in your entry, the opposite happens to them (and be creative...don't just rewrite the song!).
I went and wrote an "opposite" rendition of the song:
-----------------------------------------------------------

My boyfriend's back, and I'm in such trouble
I've cheated and I've dealt him double
You didn't tell; tried to hide the lies
I'd better go, it will make him cry

Now he's back, and I'm so sad
I cannot believe that I was so bad
I did him wrong, and you gave in
Now I'm gonna pay for my sin

My boyfriend's back, and I am torn
I really wish I was never born
He's gonna know that I was cheating
I am so sorry for ever meeting

My boyfriend's back, my reputation is shot
I wasn't true and now I've been caught
I wish right now he wasn't back
If only I had stayed on track

My boyfriend's back... *Music1* *Music2*

Based on the song lyrics by the Chiffon's "My Boyfriend's Back"

Last week a church in Buffalo, NY unintentionally put a pro-homosexuality message on its outdoor sign . The sign read "Jesus had 2 dads, and he turned out just fine". The sign was the church pastor's idea, which he came up with after Googling "funny church signs"...and he claims his intention was to promote a message about fathers and stepdads, and not a pro-homosexuality message. While the Catholic Church looks down mightily on gay marriage, it has also had policies against divorce and remarriage of heterosexuals. What's the bigger sin: two people of the same sex loving each other and committing to a life together, or two people of the opposite sex breaking their vows in the eyes of the church?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting topic. 30 years ago, people would have understood that to mean "dad" and "step-dad". Nowadays, people are programmed to think in a gay mindset. Not sure if the pastor was an older person, but it's a good bet.

As for the gauging of sin, strictly speaking, there is no "levels" of sin. Sin is sin. Whether in thought or deed. The Bible measures it the same. It is people and especially religious folk who put a "meter" or hierarchy as to the severity of different sin. Strictly speaking as well, from a Bible's point of view, homosexuality is labeled as sin. Divorce is labeled as sin. Looking at someone else's wife (even without touching) is labeled as sin.

Society is the meter of what is acceptable nowadays. Does that make it right or wrong? It's a matter of personal choice. I'm not going to condemn people for making their own personal choices. Whether or not I agree with them, it is still a person's choice. People also have the right to make choices for themselves. In the end, people answer for their own choices.

That being said, you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. The Bible also says to love the sinner while hating the sin. Whether or not you believe that, is again your choice. But to hate and condemn someone for their choices - in essentially "throwing the baby" out with the bathwater is just as bad and wrong.

Whatever you believe, my answer will probably not make you happy. It may be considered wishy-washy. I don't think people need to condemn other people; they need to do their own housekeeping in their lives, before they take on other people's lives and choices. There is probably enough work in one's own life to take care of for a lifetime. "He who is without sin, cast the first stone." And all that jazz.

Creation Saturday! With a twist!

Time to make a list! List five things you have planned for the coming week...but of the five, one should be something you definitely don't have planned. Then, visit your fellow competitors' entries for today, and try to guess what the made-up item is on their list.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Okie dokie....Here is my list of things to do for the coming week:

*Box* Keep up with Reviewing
*Box* Get Baby Quilts made
*Box* Work out on Treadmill
*Box* Keep up with contests on WdC
*Box* Start a diet

LOL...guessing time *Smirk2*

To quote a song on Sesame Street: "One of these things just DOESN'T belong here - now it's time to play our game; time to play our game"....*Music1* *Music2* *Music1*

I tried not to make it too difficult, so I hope this gives you some easy points with the "boss" LOL

Fun Fact Friday!

On this day in 1986, the one billionth Little Golden Book was printed. The title was The Poky Little Puppy .

Have you ever wanted to write a children's book? What would you write about? Would they be individual titles, or part of a series?
---------------------------

I actually have a poetry book in mind for children's writing. I have a 4 yr old, a 3 yr old and a 2 yr old for grandchildren, and I would love to publish something for them from "Gramma". The book is this:

It is a group of stories about Froggy. It just came to me one day, and I've been playing with it a little bit. It is one of my "honey do" items for the new year here on WdC. *BoxCheckB* I am excited about it. For more information of my Wish List for 2016:

I doubt seriously that it will do as well as the Pokey Little Puppy, but if I can give something to my grandchildren from my heart to theirs, it will be one less "bucket list" item checked off *BoxCheckR* .

Has a character in a movie you've seen ever been related to a character in a story or any other kind of writing you've done? Tell us about it (and no spoilers please *Wink*).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a very big JD Robb fan. I had thought about writing about a character who works their way up the ranks from rookie to LT as a detective. I inadvertently started writing one:

 New Things Ahead  (13+)
On the Fast Track. Entry for Women Writing Women Merit Challenge /890 words
#2058216 by amyjo-Keeping it real and fun!

Now I don't want to plagiarize from one of my writing heros, so I would really have to put some time and effort into making this story stand on its own.

I find it hard to not let other writer's ideas creep into my own writing. It is something to think about.

If you had to introduce yourself by either a phrase or a quote and that is all you can say at the event, what would you choose and why?
---------------------------------------------------------------

Making me think again! Well, I think this quote is pretty accurate for me:

Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.

- Elbert Hubbard

The reason I went with this quote, is because for the most part, I am a fun loving person. It's not that I have my down days or bad days, it's just that I finally think I've got it figured out -

At least for me, it doesn't pay to get freaked out or upset about things that you have no control over. You can have an opinion, and you can be outraged or incensed about something - but don't let those things define YOU.

Be the best person you can be, influence what you can, and the rest - you have to let it go. Not saying that this is an easy thing to do. Just saying that for your own mental health and well being, that it beats the alternative. Anyway, I thought this quote very appropriate for who I am and who I am striving to be. I am working on making myself the best person I can be. The rest, I am learning to let go. After all, we won't get out of this life alive. *Bigsmile*

Talk Tuesday!

What are two things you don't like about yourself?
--------------------------------------------------

That will be easy. While I like the wisdom that I've accumulated with age, I'm not crazy about the aging process itself. It takes a toll on my body that I'm not excited about. Diabetes, high blood pressure, the beginnings of menopause, etc...these things basically suck!

The other thing is that I hate not being able to visit my family...While two of my children live in the same town I do {Lubbock, TX}, my parents and two sisters live in Michigan, and my youngest daughter lives near New Orleans, Louisiana. I hate that I cannot travel to see them.

I am a pretty upbeat person, and I don't like dwelling on the things I don't like about myself...I wouldn't want to go into that kind of a tailspin, as I have a lot of things I don't like. But then again, there are a lot of things I DO like, so I concentrate on those things.

At least I can call and talk to my parents and sisters and daughter. I am glad I can do that. I have my other two children in the same town (I actually live with my oldest daughter), so I can see them most any time *Smile*.

Music Monday!

Have you ever read a musician's biography, or seen a movie based on his or her life? Share your thoughts on it.

The only one that I can recall is watching "Coal Miner's Daughter". This is the story of Loretta Lynn.
I couldn't imagine the hardships that she had faced growing up. The pressures of being young, married, raising children. That alone was a daunting feat. On top of that, trying to launch a singing career. It boggles the mind.

I enjoyed the movie, and admired the strength that Sissy Spacek portrayed playing Loretta Lynn. At the time, I thought it a remarkable film.

I like country music, and it has been awhile since I've listened to Loretta Lynn. A lot of her songs are really heart-felt and taken from her real life. You can hear it in her voice when you listen to her.
