I like the idea that some of the proceeds go to charities. I wish that happened here but Nevada doesn't participate in the lotteries available. I think it has a lot to do with the casino's not wanting any competition.

I'm with you, it's poetic indeed but changes nothing. I hate fireworks, they terrify my cats, keep me up much longer than I want to be especially here in Vegas where the idiots start letting off fireworks at 3 or 4 in the afternoon until three in the morning. Fireworks are dirt cheap and many of our neighbors seem to think it's okay to cover our yard with spent pieces in addition to the noise. It's ridiculous!
