Truth be told, Jack isn’t fed up with Susan. In many ways, Jack feels sorry for Susan. He can only imagine what circumstances have brought Susan to the point in her life where she behaves like she does.
Of course, Jack can afford to feel sorry for Susan. He’s not one of her employees, after all. He’s an independent contractor, and Susan is only one of his many clients. Jack is highly sought after, so it would cost Susan twice as much to get someone who did half the work of Jack. So Susan has to grit her teeth and treat Jack with respect any time she interacts with him.
But even though Jack may feel sorry for Susan, he’s not blind to the suffering of Susan’s employees. So Jack has a plan to teach Susan a little humility (pun intended).
The end of work on Friday will mean the beginning of a four day weekend. Without exception, all of Susan’s employees will be out of town. Even Jack will be out of the country.
Susan plans to spend the four day weekend home alone with her daughter Justine. So Jack has left a device in Susan’s house that will shrink Susan to roughly half a foot in height at 7 pm that Friday night, then restore her to her normal height at 7 pm the following Tuesday night.
That night, at Susan’s home, both her and her daughter Justine are in the dining room. Justine is still pouting that her mother wouldn’t let her stay out an hour past curfew the previous night.
