Chapter #6

Early Birds

by: evil dude Author IconMail Icon
You wanted to avoid most of the mid afternoon heat so you had the guys plan most of the big errands for the early morning. At about 6am you'd all head out to grab some coffee and a bite to eat at a local 24 hour diner famous for its pancakes and sausages. After that you'd hit up the tech store, meet a local black market firearms dealer and pick up some of T's packages.

After the work was done you'd all then head to a local steakhouse for lunch and spend the rest of the day planning and relaxing a bit. You also made sure to squeeze in a few hours of downtime in case something unforeseen happened or the crew decided to hit up a strip joint or bar for some fun.

With everything set you headed into the bedroom and put your luggage over by a small wooden table with an odd tropical plant on it. You pulled out your laptop and began surfing the web to get a better feel for the local area. After an hour or two of checking local electronics stores and gadget warehouses you wrote down a few addresses and checked the time. It was only a few hours until midnight so you decided to turn in early and get some rest.

At 5:30am on the dot the alarm K had set the previous night rung and jolted you both awake. "Bloody annoying thing..." K groaned as he pulled back his blanket and rubbed his head. "You're not too hungover, are ya?" you teased as K dropped some sort of small white pill into a water bottle and took a swig. "Bite me." came the swift reply as you both began getting dressed.

After a few quick showers, shaves and rubbing of eyes K, B, O and T were all dressed in casual attire and ready to head out. "No fancy suits today, gents?" you asked as you put on a pair of sunglasses. "Nah, gotta keep a low profile today. Last thing we need is too much attention." O said as he strapped on some cheap sports sneakers.

You nodded and followed the crew downstairs to the lobby. "I take it the limo and champagne are also off the table for today?" you asked, half not expecting an answer. "Sorry, fun was for yesterday. Today we get to work." K replied as he held up a new pair of keys. "Don't worry though, I still got us a pretty good ride."

In just a few minutes K pulled up to the curb outside the hotel behind the wheel of a five person convertible. It wasn't super fancy but its baby blue paintjob and leather seats did lend it a hint of style. "Hop in, gents. Let's grab a bite already, I'm starving." he called over the dull hum of the engine.

The trip to the diner only took about ten minutes and it wasn't long before everyone was enjoying a hot breakfast at the front window booth of a tiny almost empty restaurant in the early hours of the morning. You had ordered the eggs, sausage and bacon along with a tall glass of orange juice while most of the others got plates of pancakes, muffins or waffles.

You have some time to chat before finishing your meal, what should you discuss with your crew?
