Your sister opened the door and gave you a funny smug look that communicated many things you already knew, things like how you were always welcome but should be mindful she doesn't own the place, or how if you weren't a drop out, you could have your own sanctuary away from your parents too.
"What are YOU doing here? I didn't see your car" you answered back as she let you in
"So you are not here for me? I need to pick it up from the shop tomorrow.. Carrie is not around Tim" She explained, enjoying your reaction at her teasing comment. You walked into that one, and didn't have a good retort for her.
"Nah, I just wanted to see for myself how exciting is uni life.. it has to be better than, you know" you shrugged and your sister shook her head and chuckled.
"It's not like in the movies, sorry. Where's your car by the way?" She asked and you told her about the tire and how you decided to walk, asking her if she had a beer.
"Are you serious? You're so lazy!" She handed you a can and sat with you on the couch
"What? walking is good!"
"Then you will ask me to stay here because it's too late to fix it, a good plan to see Carrie"
"Shut up.. and where are the others?"
"Teri is working, Sue I have no idea, but should be here soon I suppose" She shrugged
"Teri?" You asked. As far as you knew, her only roommates were Carrie and Sue
"Oh right, she just took the last room. Doesn't even go to uni but it means we have more money so.." She explained
"Cool!"
"Yeah, maybe you will meet her later"
"And what about you? no plans for today? I came here to have fun you know" You teased, even if you already knew she wasn't like that. And unlike you she was responsible, both studying and working part time.
"You know it's my day off so I was just treating this as my sunday, specially since I HAD the house to myself" she teased back
"Should I go then?" You stood up, pretending to be offended
"No, you should enjoy your freedom while it lasts, lil bro"
"Gee, you already sound like mom"
"Shut up.. so, what do you want to do? What did you have planned for your little escape?" she said, finishing her beer and smiling at you, letting you know despite the jokes she was game for anything you wanted.
"I don't know, just wanted to get away from there for a bit"
"Maybe I can show you the university, you still haven't seen it right? Or we can just chill here if you want, go fix your car because there is no spare room anymore, your choice" she offered
