This was, as far as Carrie was concerned, a complete waste of time. She was a cartographer and explorer, not a historian or a folklorist. She didn't really believe in the Giant's legend about their origins, even when Nadja used to tell her their peoples legends about it. There's no way it could be true.
Some wizard? Creating life? Especially life that damn big from something as small and weak as just a few humans? It makes no sense! It just...makes no sense! Even if Giants look mostly like humans, they can't have come from the same stock!
Carrie...might have a few ingrained issues with her own species the more she dwells on this.
But she was paid by the ministry of exploration and thus she goes to the far southern edge of the Peninsula, to a completely uninhabited, difficult to reach bit of land sealed off by a great, naturally formed mountain range expecting to find absolutely nothing...
So there may be something about this kingdom of Giants theory. As soon as she had gotten over the cliffs, Carrie had seen the great towers of the...well the city with a great variety of scales and sizes...
She had been so in awe with the view of the strange place that she hadn't noticed the two 15ft tall...well if they were taxonomically classified by the Ministry they'd of been called City Giants, but the skintones and hair are more akin to frost giants. And they both immediately seized her by her arms, holding her 10 feet in the air fairly uncomfortably...and carried her off to a building in the city.
The absolute largest building in the city. That seemed to contain a miles tall statue. A very lifelike miles-tall statue of a heavyset woman with brown, braided hair and wearing a hide armor skirt and breastplate, with sandals and iron cufflinks and a club sitting against her throne. Clearly this was a depiction of the mythical First Giant Shee-
"Supreme Queen Sheena! We bring you a spy from the Wizard's lands!"
And to Carrie's absolute horror, the "statue" began to move. She wasn't in the presence of a depiction of a deity. She was in the presence OF a deity. Centuries of reverence from all giants in the Peninsula had raised her status to the point she had become, at least, a minor goddess...and Carrie was brought forward to be her sacrif-
"We've discussed this at length, dears. The Wizard wasn't a king, he didn't have a kingdom, and not every strange-sized person you find is a spy out to hurt us."
"You ate the last ones?"
"Well those ones were men. Ugly, useless little..."
Sheena sighed, producing hurricane force winds...
"Just give her over and run along while I decide what to do with her. At worst she might be fit to be remade into a new sibling of yours"
"Yes, Supreme Queen Sheena!"
And Carrie's shaking, terrified form is dropped into the building-sized palm of the Giant Goddess. At the very least, if she survives this, she was going to have information for the Peninsula's official records of dieties...
