In the southwestern part of the Kingdom, on the northern slope of one of the mountains in the Kingdom’s Southern Mountain Range, lies the small town of WestDwarf. WestDwarf gets its name from its proximity to the westernmost dwarvenhome in the Southern mountain range. WestDwarf lies halfway between the main pass in the Southern mountain range, and the western edge of that range, where it meets the Great Sea.
To the west and northwest of WestDwarf lies a large expanse of forest known as the WestDwarf Forest. The WestDwarf Forest does not serve as a home for elves or any other races. To the best of anyone’s knowledge, there does not lurk in the interior of the forest some unspoken terror waiting to prey upon the unsuspecting denizens of WestDwarf. It’s simply a large forest with a thriving ecosystem that includes large predators who, for the most part, avoid contact with humans.
There are some odd ruins in the forest, but these have become so well known to the denizens of WestDwarf that they are simply mundane background objects. WestDwarf lies so far off the beaten path (the road that runs to it is little better than a cart trail), that very few outsiders have seen these ruins.
It is these ruins that will be the first step of your quest.
But that is for tomorrow. Tonight, your adventuring party is gathered in the common room of The Crossroads Inn, almost three hundred miles to the northeast of WestDwarf. The Crossroads Inn is in Callerynta, a city in the geographical center of the Kingdom. Callerynta sits at the intersection of two Royal Highways. One highway runs north-south, between the capital city of Kara and the main pass in the Kingdom’s Southern mountain range. The other Highway runs west-east, from Phesia (a port city on the Great Sea) to the main pass in the Kingdom’s Eastern mountain range.
