A fire on the Sunday, the craziest year for fires. The end was within the realm of - win a bit, lose a bit. Lost a bit of grazing and we managed to stop the fire and the wind was in our favour, that made it easier. The loss was not major, again a case of deliberate arson. The major part of the fire has gone into no-mans land. The question is still, who is the joker or jokers?

As for the 'new vehicle' ...... almost a story on its own, a story that is more fiction than fact, more horror and mystery than real life and it is all true. Maybe I will do the most unusual choice of all - 'cause fact is definitely stranger than fiction at the moment.

Buying a car. The most normal thing to do ....... says who?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: Information from Answers.com
Director: Ken Hughes AMG Rating: Genre: Musical Movie Type: Musical Fantasy, Family-Oriented Adventure Themes: Heroic Mission, Inventors, Kidnapping Main Cast: Dick ...

If I did not know any better, I would have sworn I was in Neverland, I do need a good theme song though....... THINKS ----- 'They will come and take me away, ha ha !'

In the END they come and take us all away,,,,

Jokes aside, the reality is a dark mystery, will it be a saga to follow to the logical conclusion - if there is any logic to it - for at the moment I see nothing funny or logical to it.

Why is it that, just when you think things are running well, something comes around to upset the apple-cart.

Well - the new 2nd-hand vehicle is turning into a major circus and I do not know who is laughing but is is not me.

It keeps on getting kittens, first it was only two little items to fix, now it seems like a major problem, and my first instincts are proving to be correct - there's a snake in the grass! Only, what is going to be the final cost? And who is going to laugh? So far it is me paying and some other joker laughing.

Another little fire on Sunday past, a small oopsy from the Crown Prince, burning and not being safe about it. There goes the Sunday visit and rest.

Nano? Well, so far - no good. The story is stuck in the heat together with all the other chores. Who is going to do what?

The first tentative drops of rain found their way down to us, yesterday.

The signs are there, flies everywhere, and we have not even had rain.

That is not a good sign, when the plagues precede the rain, even the ticks are on the go already.

As I got into bed last night, the light was off and I was thinking on the few raindrops that just fell and were no more ... what did I hear ... a mosquito!

It went to sit on my foot and then there was .... lights, action and one dead mosquito, who was only trying to do what was inbred into it.

Now we know summer is here.

The new additions to the 'zoo' are coming in, already I am running out of space.

A new Springbok ewe - hope that nothing goes wrong there. She is settling down nicely with the Mr. Ram. So far - so good
.
Only this morning did I utter these words -

When animals bite or hurt me, I usually know why - when people do it, I rarely understand why.

Why?

Okay, never that other fluorescent green ever again. Holy smokes, what a nasty color. Even the cows were put off by it.

If I did not know better,I would have sworn it was a Friday, (which is only tomorrow).

The reason, spent most of the day fighting a bloody fire - again.

One major joke.*Blush*

We started it ourselves ........ yep, us, nobody else.

We were making a fire break, everything was in our favor - the wind was going in the correct direction and mild, we had the fire-car on hand, shovels, hands - everything you could need.

And the neighbor came and lent a helping hand, and we nattered away, as farmers do, about this and the other.... about the big fire other farmers had the week before - there was a major fire, it burnt down over many miles.

The next thing, the wind picks up speed and changes direction, the fire jumps over the road. That was the beginning of a long day's fire fight.

And at the end of the day, we count all the mistakes and be glad - it could have been worse.

Many a slip - betwix the cup and the lip.

There is not supposed to be a prologue. Prologues, or introductions, are like telling the end before-hand.

Let us begin at the beginning.

We were on our way to town in the newly-acquired, second-hand, vehicle which I was driving for the first time.

Crown Prince was commenting on my driving ability which has been accident free since the horse-an-cart era. Except for that little incident...

There I was driving home at the legal speed, a pleasant working day at an end, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this car coming onto the crossing. No problem here as the right of way was mine and he had a stop to obey.

Which he did not!

My car was hit on the door and mid strut, spun around and facing the way he was traveling in, and all my car's tires were off the rims, And his car carried on for quite a way down the road where they stopped. He got out and ran away.

He never paid for damages, got a fine of some sorts and disappeared into the sunset.

Myself. Hurt my ribs, nothing more. I was very lucky (heard my guardian angel took a week's leave after that one)

Now, on that note: I was 100% in the right, there was nothing I did wrong or was guilty to no misdemeanor of any kind. And I was not happy!

Now again, here; the person who only last month, allowed the car to run backwards into another car;(the hand brake did not function and the car was out of gear) is telling me about my driving skills.

Was I happy; not at all, was I right; off course!

Why can I not be happy and right ?

Not many people get an opportunity to be right and happy.

If you happen to be there now, enjoy it.

In a lighter vein today.

The skies are brown,
dust is all around.
Summer on its way,
as soon as it rains.

Not much of a poem, not a poet at all. Should keep his day job.

Friday the 20th was another Friday with another fire. No damage to man or beast or anything else.

The potential for major damage was there as my neighbour had already lost a field of corn to fire the previous week.

The wind was against us, fortunately it turned in our favour and we could get control of the fire with the fire-car.

A fire-car is a trailer fitted with a water tank and a petrol driven motor and a power pump and hosepipe. It works very well in controlling the fires.

I would dearly like to meet the horse's backside who starts these fires. Sorry horse!

Fire; a welcome commodity when controlled, when out of control a force that can cause so much mischief

btw English today.

Then nothing happened, neither good nor bad. Friday the 13th passed, as did all the other days of this month and to date, it has been all the same.

The only good thing is, where the grass has been burnt away, the new shoots are already showing and the Springbuck (antelope) are enjoying themselves with new, green, tender shoots.

And we stand and watch them as they graze close to the house. Soon they will move away to greener pastures.

Busy with many things, busy with preparing for the next season, busy with nothing and everything, busy, busy, busy.

YELLOW CASE ?

What do I do with it ? Time will tell.

The last fire I spoke about was not the last. Friday past, someone decided that the southern part should have the same color as the northern part, namely black, and lit another fire.

Again at lunch time and the cattle were grazing there.

Fortunately the wind was mild and the end result was not as bad as it could have been. Nobody or anything was hurt or damaged.

The help we got from the neighbors who were not directly affected and the other neighbors who would be affected as well, were all able to assist.

All's well that ends better than what it could have been.

It would be nice to meet the jokers who have nothing else to do than cause mischief.

Words ---- today's word.

Thankfully we have good neighbors.

Fortunately, there are other people who make me thankful for the fact that they are not my neighbors.

Yesterday, instead of lunch in the tummy, the bbq was the grazing and a grass-fire. Fortunately the wind was not too active or else the fire would have been un-stoppable. At the sunset, the last fire of the day was done as well. All's well that ends well. Lost one field and a corner of the other. Not too bad, considering all 'n all.

The neighbors lost a lot more. So far, no animals or other major losses.

A lesson....... prevention is better than cure.

The fire breaks were not adequate or as effective as they should have been.

And the danger is not totally past yet.

Word of the day:

Last:

Who wants to be last? It is said, "And the last will be first....."

Another word worth looking at.

Winter's days are short and the nights are long, this has changed already, as the day/night of the 21/22 June is gone.

The world has had an oil gush, an accident that will stay and never go away, as for a thing that has been oiled so well, it will slip through the fingers - forever.

Contest: a game: never really cared much for competing. It means that one wins and the other loose.

....... Why can we not all win? ........

Then we will have no use for war.

The world will be overpopulated and we will have disease and pestilence and poverty.

And now we have that already and we still have war and we are still overpopulated?

Word for today:

Well;

Sometimes a person should leave well enough alone.

Well, I looked in the dictionary, then at Wikipedia, Websters, The Free Dictionary,
and a few more places.

There's a lot of 'well'.

Well, there are few words in the English language that have more meanings and can be used more often than 'well'.

And things are not well often enough.
